We should begin considering moving Health HRH To @MOH_Kenya
We may disagree at many occasions but on this, since independence, @HonAdenDuale has delivered.
Truth be told.
We wait on his word Tomorrow&on the presidential @WilliamsRuto DIRECTIVE+The court:MoH is the Employer
Dear PS @fnoluga ,
We the UHC Can clearly see your hand & Mischief in this Delay tactic.
You're creating a Taskforce just at the Moment that you are expected to be implementing the @WilliamsRuto DIRECTIVE to confirm UHC staff.
This is intentional to DISRUPT service delivery..
DEFEND THE CLINICAL OFFICER PROFESSION : STOP THE POLICY OVERREACH
The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers @kUCOofficial notes with deep concern the report of the Technical Working Group reportedly led by Prof. Gilbert Kokwaro, which proposes the scrapping off, of the BSc Clinical Medicine training pathway. This recommendation appears to fall outside the stated Terms of Reference of the TWG and has not been supported by any publicly available scientific evidence, sector-wide consultation, or professional consensus.
We further recall that similar remarks were previously made by the DG for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth @DrPatrickAmoth , during a televised interview on @citizentvkenya on 2 April 2024, remarks that were later clarified and apologised for by him. It is therefore deeply troubling to see the same narrative re-emerge through a policy recommendation that threatens the future of a long standing professional training pathway.
A QUESTION OF PROCESS, EVIDENCE, AND LAW
Any attempt to abolish or alter a recognised professional training programme must comply with the Constitution, applicable statutes governing professional regulations, and principles of administrative fairness. Public policy affecting healthcare training cannot be driven by personal opinion, inter-cadre rivalry, or opaque processes. It must be evidence-based, consultative, and legally sound.
The clinical officer profession has served this country faithfully since 1928 and remains a cornerstone of healthcare ecosystem. Therefore, any policy action that undermines this role without objective justification raises serious governance and legal concerns.
OUR APPEAL TO THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH
We respectfully but firmly call upon the leadership of the @MOH_Kenya, led by Hon. CS. Aden Bare Duale @HonAdenDuale, Ps @psmuthoni@fnoluga to exercise sound judgment and institutional leadership, by:
1. Withdraw, immediately and unconditionally any proposal recommending the discontinuation or mutilation of BSc Clinical medicine training.
2. Prevent personal opinions from being converted into Ministry policy, particularly where such positions threaten the long-standing professional coexistence within Kenya’s health workforce.
3. Ensure that any reforms affecting health training or professional practice are undertaken through transparent consultation, scientific evidence, and lawful policy processes.
History will judge harshly any leadership that allows professional divisions or unsupported recommendations to erode a profession that has served the nation for nearly a century.
MESSAGE TO ALL CLINICAL OFFICERS : STAND FIRM
Clinical Officers across the country must remain vigilant, united, and ready to defend the integrity of the profession. Our contribution to Kenya’s healthcare system cannot be erased by administrative opinion or temporary policy pressure.
We call upon all Clinical Officers to stand together in protecting:
Our profession
Our training institutions
Our rightful role in healthcare Service delivery
The future of the next generation of Clinical Officers
Note:
Multi professional coexistence in the health sector must be protected, not undermined.
If necessary, the Union will not hesitate to pursue all lawful avenues including institutional engagement, public advocacy, and legal remedies, to ensure that justice, fairness, and professional integrity prevail.
Our vow
The profession will not be intimidated.
The profession will not be erased.
The profession will stand.
