I don’t believe fictional beings have personal human rights and I believe in freedom of speech.

I just have a grounded and consistent world view about it and other people do not.

Often, people will be okay with heinous violence against fictional beings even committed by themselves as a player… and claim it has nothing to do with them being a murderer. Then they will denounce sexual assault in fiction and say that only sexual predators would be okay with it.

They will claim this with zero evidence. Then plead for government control on it. It’s inconsistent and illogical.

Fiction is fiction, simple as.

The WoW name drama just reveals a major contributing factor to why MMO's are dead.

Everyone fondly remembers the infamous Barrens chat.

Yet in current year everyone who participated in it would be permabanned.

You can't have fun in multiplayer games anymore because some Karen will get offended and get you banned, and that's multiplied x1000 in MMOs.

Until companies learn that it's the perpetually offended they should be banning because THEY are the ones ruining everyone else's fun, there can be no second coming of MMOs.

I wish more game devs were aware of this scam.

Shortly after we've launched our demo we have recieved 20 of such similar requests.

Random people coming up to us and "offering their services"

Our publisher tried to test them by making them sign an NDA with docu-sign.

Half of them simply ghosted the moment they were offered, even though they were "extremely excited to help" a minute before.

The ones who did sign , docu-sign found out they're from Nigeria, yes all of them. And all of them have the exact same similar script.

The possibility of so many "upstarting businesses" to help "indy-devs" originating from the exact same country, is pretty low.

Also legit businesses in 2026 rarely if ever contact people on discord.
They reach out through mail, or wait for the developer to reach them.

We urge fellow developers to be cautious, especially around the launch period of their game and do not trust someone that can say they will promote your game without proof or prior reputation.

@themercurymanor Sounds about right. Some people work these jobs because they got no other choice at the moment, others because they don't qualify for anything else. The latter group tends to have a common attribute.
