British, Jewish, LGBTQ, United fan since the 90s. Sometimes found in the North Stand singing very quietly. No to extremism. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ง๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
@UtdDanMufc_ Personally I think it *does* save a season if the team wins a trophy - it isn't a barometer of progress, but it definitely makes a season worth remembering (which otherwise last season would not have been without the FA Cup run and win (mainly the Liverpool and City games!)).
@rhapsodyboard@NotFarLeftAtAll I would eat 99% of gay people, myself included, hate these absolute tossers! They may pretend to represent us but they absolutely do not. And Israel is one of the best countries in the world to be gay also ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ค
@ManUtdFaceValue Not sure how to contact you directly, but I have 2 tickets to sell at face value for Southampton:
North Stand Tier 1, near the centre circle - Block N43, Row 5, seats 175 and 174, amazing view.
Will have others from time to time too, thanks!
@BriannaWu Please don't leave Twitter. You are one of the most important centrist voices that needs to be heard, both when it comes to Israel, fighting antisemitism on the left, and being a desperately needed moderate voice when it comes to the issue of gender. You are very valued!
Singers from across the world unite to put together a raw, acapella rendition of Hatikvah. ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ
โTo remind us that together, no matter where we are in the world, the Jewish people can always find strength and unity, especially through the universal language of song.โ

@DelilaTruther @NahBabyNah It is disappointing and jarring to see a Palestinian flag next to a trans flag in your bio - you are literally supporting the same thing you say is not conducive to a free society: far right religious extremism. Palestinian society does not remotely support LGBT rights.
@sarahsackman Thanks Sarah for your bravery in standing up for what is right. So many trolls in the replies - from the wildly misinformed to the downright racist. Ignore every last one of them and keep the fight up!

My last day in Tel Aviv ๐ฅน๐ซถ๐พ๐ฎ๐ฑ
Day 5 and still no racism experienced here. ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ Sorry but youโre wrong again, musty antisemites #AmYisraelChai
A day of meetings today but three are of note: a British Jew, a tech guy, and an American-Israeli.
Curious that each of them asked me, โWhy are you so pro-Israel?โ
And itโs a weird answer because Iโm not, in the sense they meant. Iโm not a cheerleader: I have very happily criticised Israeli strategy; some of the IDFโs social media idiocy; events like the WCK strike; and people like Netanyahu/Ben Gvir/Smotrich and chums.
But here are my foundational principles for
my analysis:
1) Israel is a good country, an ally; after the Holocaust, Jews deserve a homeland and their ancestral lands are the perfect place for it to be. Jews are more indigenous to Judea than Arabs from Arabia, but Israel is a country that embraces both if someone wants to be an Israeli and live in peace. I've been to Israel. I've seen it firsthand. Israelis are not white Europeans.
2) The history of what is now Israel isnโt black and white; itโs complex with challenging ethical considerations on both sides, and there are no easy (or obvious) solutions to the current situation.
3) Having seen the 7th October massacre sites firsthand, it is unquestionable that Hamas deserve to all die in flames. Monsters. I don't usually agree with dehumanisation but Hamas have forfeited any claim to humanity. Therefore Israelโs war against them is just.
4) Civilians die in war, as an horrific corollary to combat, and from all my observations, Israel is setting the gold standard for civilian protection in modern warfare.
5) My ire is roused by the lies, and abuse of international law by Israel's, and the West's, enemies. The accusations of genocide and apartheid are unconscionably malign. As something of an expert in the field of disinformation, the patterns of this false information and its spread are nakedly clear to see.
6) The celebrations of 7 October in London were the most awakening and horrific political event I've seen in my lifetime. That variations have been allowed to continue weekly on our capital's streets is, to me, an obscenity. I will never not stand with my British countrymen and women against antisemitism.
So that's my position. Just to be very clear. I donโt have an agenda, I just call it how I see it. And thatโs how I see it.
@aziz0nomics I am LGBTQ and Jewish. I am also disgusted and dismayed by those LGBTQ people campaigning against Zionism. However, they are a nasty, noisy minority of LGBTQ ppl and do not represent the majority of us. In the same way that anti-Zionist Jews are an extreme minority, so are they.
@swearysnork@JonathanSGlass@Never_Again2020 Let's just say I was pleased Israel came on early for me to cheer her on ๐ ! Went in the garden with my dog for the middle bit and came back for the end. Can't sit through the whole thing... A late night too, but worth it for the statement we all had to make!
@swearysnork@JonathanSGlass@Never_Again2020 I think a huge number of people did exactly the same! I am a Eurovision fan but not if it's going to be taken over by antisemitism again. It felt important to make a stand against it last night.
@jonathanchait@jk_rowling โ Especially if they aren't doing anything to harm you. What did this football referee person ever do to Ms Rowling? Nothing. They just wanted to go about doing their job and not be abused. Simple as that really.
@DreyfusJames As someone who actually *is* non binary (and now in a very healthy and happy place re my own gender identity and expression), I find this person and her "movement" to be utterly abhorrent and not representative of normal LGBT people, who on the whole just want to get on with life
@JonathanSGlass@Never_Again2020 Absolutely spot on!
"people sat at home last night, poured themselves a gin and tonic and did a very simple thing to show their disgust at the racial discrimination against a young Jewish woman. They voted for her. Again and again and again."
Love this bit. โ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ง
