This afternoon, I presided over the graduation of 21 officers who completed the National Security and Strategic Studies Course at the National Defence College in Buikwe district. I congratulate them and urge them to provide strategic leadership in safeguarding our country’s security and development.

✅ Award of Development and Production Licences for key oil fields in the Lake Albert Basin, paving the way for commercial petroleum development.

🗓️ 2017
✅ Uganda and Tanzania signed the Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (@EACOP_ ) on 26 May 2017, advancing regional energy cooperation and export infrastructure.

🗓️ 2022
✅ Announcement of the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Tilenga, Kingfisher and #EACOP projects on 1 February 2022, unlocking approximately USD 10 billion in investment.

🗓️ 2023
✅ Successfully spudded the first development wells for the Kingfisher and Tilenga projects, marking the start of the drilling phase for Uganda’s oil production projects.

🗓️ 2024
✅ Achieved a major milestone with four (4) drilling rigs operating concurrently across the country, reflecting accelerated project execution.

In the picture, I am with Mr. Cohen Carlos, who owns Feldstein Co. Ltd., a gold refinery in Kampala. It refines Uganda’s gold to a purity level of 99.9%, which recently was earning USD 173,000 per kilogram. On account of the war in the Gulf of Persia, the price is now USD 129,000.

This particular one and a half kilograms of gold that I am holding is from Ibanda. Mr. Cohen is building another refinery in Morulem, Abim.

Uganda is waking up. We have 10 licensed gold refineries in Uganda. Mr. Cohen’s refineries are printing the Bank of Uganda logo on the gold bars.
