it's like a reverse index fund, compounding damage to your life every year. Except to most people the losses are invisible because they come in the form of things that don't happen
Engineering is great because when I saw this post, the first thing that came to my mind was the transaction fee on $1 from 10,000 people.
Then the solution came to me instantly after remembering how Apple solved their payment issue with the Apple Music payment infrastructure.
AI cannot solve these kinds of problems for you. Only experience and research can.
the whole point of a JWT is that you don't have to hit the database. if you are going to validate it against the database anyway, congrats, you have just reinvented bearer tokens, except now it's 1000x more complicated
I don’t believe people who say they are running “12 parallel coding agents”.
Either they are lying for clicks, or I’m a complete retard who can barely keep up with a single Claude instance.
Thanks to AGI advances, Jobstack is now completely free. lighter models in use now and cheaper.
total AI tokens cost today is <= $40/m now. Does not seem like a great idea to charge for that :))

you want to keep your code high quality so you can fuck it up later when you need to. but if its already fucked up, you can't fuck it up. does that make sense?
@stevenzhang Congratulations, but please don't leave the country because you can still be restricted from entering the country... MAGA leader and his clout followers are bunch of clowns with emotional assault challenges
Met someone that worked as a driver two weeks ago. He has a freaking PhD! I took his resume and spent days just helping to work on it and we’ve been sending out applications.
Pls if anyone has any position for him , he is willing to work!
Here is a snapshot of his resume.
I need your help urgently.
One of my team members, Douye Tungbulu @TunzDev, is going through every family’s worst nightmare.
His mother, Tina, is battling stage 4 ovarian cancer. Three days ago, Douye asked for time off, and when I asked why, he told me she was in the hospital fighting for her life.
The medical bills are crushing ₦16 million total for her treatment. They’ve already spent ₦1.1 million out of pocket, and yesterday another ₦3.6 million was paid to begin her clinical procedures and first month of treatment. That’s ₦4.7 million down, but there’s still ₦11.3 million to go.
Douye is one of the hardest working, very dedicated to work. He shows up every day, delivers excellent work, and never complains. Now he’s watching his mother fight for her life while scrambling to keep her treatment going.
If you can donate ₦500, ₦1,000, ₦5,000, anything at all, please do 🙏🏽.
If you can’t, please share and retweet this. Time is not on our side.

Late last year has been a rollercoaster, and life hasn’t given me a break since I lost my job. But what’s most paramount to me right now is what I’m about to share with you.
We found out my mom has ovarian cancer. I was in serious disbelief until more tests showed it’s at stage 4, and nothing has been the same since for her.
We’ve already spent a lot on tests and medications to help her regain weight before she starts major treatment. Each day has been pain upon pain for her, and it has broken me into pieces every single day. We’ve spent about ₦1.1M already in total, without the actual procedure even starting.
At this stage, we need ₦15.45M for the next four months for her procedure. The diagnosis and cost breakdown are below this tweet.
I know this is a crazy situation, but please, I want to save my mom. She called me crying in pain, begging if there’s any way I can help her, and this is my only option at the moment. Please, I’m begging with everything in me, help me. Either by donating or retweeting, it will go a long way.
Please, #SaveTinaFromCancer 🙏
Paul Graham on why you shouldn’t write with AI:
“In preindustrial times most people's jobs made them strong. Now if you want to be strong, you work out. So there are still strong people, but only those who choose to be. It will be the same with writing. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭 𝐛𝐞."
A long time ago I worked at a small startup and we started having problems with our office WiFi. Every once in a while it would go out. I was the CTO and I did all kinds of network troubleshooting, resetting the wifi router to factory settings and trying all kinds of configurations eventually even replacing the wifi router. Nothing fixed it. It would still randomly go out for a few minutes a few times per day. It wasn't critical, but it was annoying.
I was pretty much resigned to the fact that this is just how it's going to be. And then one day I was to have a lunch meeting with a colleague, and she said, wait let me warm up my lunch that I brought in. As I was waiting for her, I was looking up something on the internet. And the wifi went out again.
And then I heard the *bing* of the microwave as my colleague's lunch finished warming up. Our office server rack and wifi router were in the back of the kitchenette where the microwave was as well.
Microwaves interfere with wifi signals, specifically on 2.4 GHz (this was a long time ago, no 5G).
