Practically speaking, identify why something is not working and change or refine your approach. This applies to sports, education, relationships etc, but most importantly, to governance. With proper governance, Africa's resource or human capital can be stewarded appropriately.
"Africa has all the resources it needs to develop...so there's something we have to identify in regard to what is failing us...We cannot change the continent without changing our way of doing things. We have to match what we say with what we do." @PaulKagame
Two days of hard conversation in Kigali ended the way they should, with commitments.
Francis Gatare @Francis_Gatare committed to using ASG as a platform connecting creators and institutions, and to embedding meta-Africanism directly into school curricula, making it the continent's home for the concept.
Frederick Golooba @FGoloobaMutebi named the uncomfortable truth beneath everything discussed: ideas mean nothing without consistent execution, and national politics too often works against that consistency. Pointing to China's long-term leadership development systems, he asked why African political parties have none of their own, and committed to keep studying and speaking on the question until it gets answered.
H.E. Thabo Mbeki @TMFoundation_ asked for something simple but essential: a system to record, document, follow up on, implement and report back on everything discussed here, so the Forum's ideas don't evaporate once the room empties.
Dr. Edem Adzogenu announced a concrete step forward, a partnership between Accra Reset and ASG to build Sankore Global Negotiators, a community developing the knowledge African nations need to hold their own at the global negotiating table.
Hon. Antoine Kajangwe, Rwanda's Minister of Trade and Industry, committed to pushing for a single African air transport system and tackling the high cost of moving people and goods across the continent, the same friction raised on day one.
H.E. Hailemariam Dessalegn @HMDessalegn closed with the Forum's sharpest reminder: this was never meant to be an event, but a movement, built to create change rather than host philosophical discussion. His charge for next time, come back with evidence of impact and stories of change, and his charge to young leaders, nothing worthwhile is freely given, it must be earned.
At LéO, we leave Kigali carrying our own version of that commitment, to keep building the leaders, networks and institutions that turn ideas like these into Africa's lived reality. The Forum may be closing, but the work it named is only beginning.

“…it is easier said than done.” Prof. Lumumba said, and countless resolutions have proved that. But what remains true is that our ambitions for Africa can be achieved, necessitating that we reset our mindsets. Let our actions do more than our words.
A friend once told me that we as Africans are good at meeting and talking, drawing the line on actual implementation. Fortunately, the @ASG_Africa conference was centered around implementation, and my prayer was that I wasn’t witnessing another example of cheap talk.
“We’re in the business of giving new names to old things, assuming it will solve our problems on the continent….when you leave here, will you coordinate, or will you wait for another conference?’
Powerful 8 min closer from PLO Lumumba in the @ASG_Africa room earlier today.
Before day two of the Africa Mindset Reset Forum opens, our morning starts closer to home.
LéO Fellows from across cohorts, joined by those who travelled in from Uganda, Somalia, Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya for the Forum, are gathering over breakfast in Kigali. A side conversation to the main event, but an important one: a chance for Fellows who may never have met to connect, catch up, and recognise the network they already belong to.
It's a fitting way to begin a day built around what Africa's leadership network can become.
More from #Kigali as the Forum resumes.

Day one of the Africa Mindset Reset Forum closes on a clear note: ideas alone don't move Africa, incentives and implementation do.
Our LéO network members in Kigali are enjoying every conversation and learning something new with each session. We look forward to what tomorrow brings.

The reset has began. ASG President, @Francis_Gatare, opened the Africa Mindset Reset Forum this morning, and he came with a challenge.
His argument: Africa has never been short on resources or talent. What holds us back is a scarcity mindset, the belief that the pie is fixed and that one person's gain is another's loss.
Reset that, he said, and everything changes.
Then he pushed further. Pan Africanism gave us solidarity, liberation and dignity. But he says our moment demands something more, what he calls Meta Africanism: a mindset that calls for collective success.
"None of us is independent if even one of us is not." He said.
The reset starts now.
#AfricaResets
Today, we begin the conversations that will challenge perspectives and shape Africa’s future as we move from Pan-Africanism to Meta-Africanism.
The room is filling up, and the conversation is about to begin. Are you in the room as

@OptionbuddyAi Put credit spreads for me. If put skew is elevated, I’d rather get paid for that extra fear while keeping my risk defined. It’s like taking advantage of the market’s panic without leaving myself too exposed if things go sideways.
