The hospice handed me my Get Out Of Jail Free card yesterday and am now home. To sleep in my own bed was bliss, but I miss the nurses dishing out the meds at the precise time, usually in the middle of breakfast, dinner and tea time. I miss the nurses who would sit with you and have a chat. And the food, my God, cooked on the premises, great variety, piping hot, could not complain about anything. The Doctor came to see me asking if I was happy to go home and continue with the new regime, but when ready, would I come back for the the final countdown, and I said I’d come back just for the food! I’m glad I decided to go stay in the hospice, as put my mind at rest, and I’m not scared/frightened of what’s to come now. 👵🏻

Iv COPD, heart failure and kidney failure. My breathing stops me from walking at just a few steps, I struggle to get any air, I retain co2 and wear a NIV every night which helps me breath and gets rid of the co2 I’m on end of life palliative care. My prognosis is I could go at any moment, but Iv made peace with that. 👵🏻

@nikki_plummer It surely is. Everything was beautifully home made, even Fish and Chip Friday was fresh fish, with lovely light crispy batter and home made chips and mushy peas. You just couldn’t beat it. You actually looked forward to every meal. 👵🏻

Just found the one nurse who thinks making a cup of tea is above her station. One of those nurses who are all bustle and efficiency, opening the curtains etc, but deems it beneath her to make a cuppa. Waited 20 minutes for another nurse to appear and when asked, we had tea within minutes. This was the only nurse who let the rest down, from the time it was settling down for the night to her brusque manner this morning. 👵🏻

Hospice Day 84 or 76 take your pick, it doesn’t matter what it is, they are all the same, apart from newbie’s arriving and the dead departing. So, first improvement…… my leg muscles. In my flat I have to walk 6 steps to loo, in here it like The Green Mile. 30 bloody steps to get there and 30 to get back. Now, when they give you water tablets, you have to do that walk every 20 minutes, with your legs crossed like a Lady in waiting or waddle like a duck praying your gonna get there in time, when often you just make it, drop your pj’s, slam your arse on that seat and let out a very loud “Aaaaaaaaah. This goes on for approximately 3 hours, so you can imagine how many steps I’m getting through. But the good news is they are giving me the Get Out Of Jail card tomorrow. They will continue treatment, monitor my medications and asked if I want to come back when my time is up, and I said yes, because I can’t really fault them, the food is bloody good, and I think it’s better for my girls. As long as I’m not twinned up with the lady with the loudest death rattle all night long. 👵🏻

Yeah, home tomorrow and I can do all what they have been doing here. I’ll have the nurses coming and going, so not totally alone. Those water tablets are a pain in the arse, but it’s taking the water away from my lungs and heart, so got no choice. Gonna take out shares with Tenna Lady. 😂👵🏻

Hospice day Whatever! I have never been so tired and weary in my life. Can’t have sleep in the afternoon due to dead lady as her tv on too loud. Have asked he to turn in Dornoch but she friggin deaf! And as soon as I walk away, she fast asleep, mouth wide open, wakes up, looks at you, then promptly goes back to sleep. I was so tempted to put Guns and Roses on full volume and crush up some happy pills and put into her sippy cup. Lord give me strength I had a visit from no less than 6 doctors assorted nurses and Matron.big discussion about treatment, is it working,do I feel any better etc how the hell do I know? High as a kite half the time, so now they’ve got to bring me does and then see. You won’t believe how long it’s taken me to type this. Goodnight😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫👵🏻
