@pendown@bitcoinmalayali Sir if LDF can lose Payyannur, anything can happen in today’s Kerala. So let’s not predict KC will have a smooth ride in by-elections. People are very angry and he has serious credibility issues now
@RahulSeeker Most other industries have had or still make way better movies than Dhurandhar. It’s just that Hindi audience are not exposed to good movies
@SamaHoole If I remember correctly, Kerala also ranks second or third when it comes to average male height and exceeds the average of most southern and eastern states. Most people don’t appreciate the importance of animal proteins (dairy included) in nutritional outcomes
@Banjotkaur All these boil down to poorly funded and disempowered urban bodies. When our cities don’t have the money and the capacity, they wouldn’t be able to invest in infrastructure or providing basic amenities
@bsdhanoa China and many other countries such as US prospered because of the financial and regulatory powers that their cities have. Our cities are poorly funded, there is low accountability and limited capacities to act on the issues. Our paranoia regarding decentralisation is a drawback
@JacobAShell@hindookissinger I agree this was at a much smaller scale than the Arabs, Dutch, British or French. But it still suck. I remember reading another paper on Tamils ending up as servants in Denmark. Will try to find that out and share
@JacobAShell@hindookissinger Also a lot of Africans also ended up in India (South and west coast) who were trafficked by European companies from Africa. In Kerala they were called Kappiris (probably a corrupt form of Arabic “Kafirs” or infidels). There is also a community called “Siddis” of African descent
@JacobAShell@hindookissinger I can talk about South India (coz I am from there). So mostly these slaves were war captives were sold to the Europeans by native Indian rulers (and were disproportionately from lower castes). European companies also raided hinterlands or merchant ships for slaves
@JacobAShell@hindookissinger Sorry I meant Asians (mostly South Asians and other Asians) who were captured during raids, or sold to the Danes as war captives. They ended up in different parts of the World as servants and manual labour
Inspite of heavy monsoons and sufficient water supply, Sector E1, Vasant Kunj continues to remain plagued with water shortages. Been without water since morning today no action taken by @official_dda. This is quite unfortunate @LtGovDelhi@CMODelhi
