Saddened to hear that South African playwright, composer, director, and actor best known for his work in musical theatre Mbongeni Ngema has died.

He gained international recognition for creating the critically acclaimed and musical Sarafina which addressed the struggles of black South Africans during apartheid and featured world famous Whoopi Goldberg.

Ngema contributed significantly to the cultural and political landscape of South Africa and the continent.

His passing is a huge loss to the artistic and cultural community in South Africa and Africa.

His contributions particularly with Sarafina left a long lasting impact on addressing important socio-political issues through the medium of musical theater.

May his soul Rest in Peace. 🇿🇦

This video has made many people cry after watching it.

It shows a South African man meeting a Zimbabwean trader selling eggs and peanuts in Johannesburg.
She has her baby on the back whilst she trades in the streets of Johannesburg.

The man gave her R800 and asked her to go home with her baby and rest.

She narrated that she looked after her kids and parents back home through selling boiled eggs and roasted peanuts.

These are the stories @nickmangwana that show how much Zimbabweans are suffering and how they have to leave their country to go to South Africa and trade because your Government has failed to run the country through corrupt rule.

I don’t know how bringing people like @PearlThusi and other celebrities will change the view of South Africans on Zimbabwe when South Africans see suffering Zimbabweans daily in their country.

May the man who assisted this woman be blessed abundantly, and may South Africa and its people be blessed for helping millions of suffering Zimbabweans put a meal on the table for their families both in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
