Yesterday's vote in Ol Kalou doesn't sugarcoat for President William Ruto the plain and transparent truth on the torturous road to 2027. It gives him a binary choice. Continue listening to the effusive and praiseful lullabies by Kiambu politicians whose support is in single digit and not beyond immediate family members, stick with Prof Kithure Kindiki and believe their false narrative that he will get 40% of the Mt. Kenya vote and know that a humiliating defeat is certain. Or act the political fox you always have been, pick a Luo or a Luhya runningmate(preferably the latter) and hit the read running. The choices are clear. And President Ruto must smell the coffee...by force.

Moi tried to buy Kikuyu votes in the 1990s with "Central Kenya Development Group" of SK Macharia (of @citizentvkenya) as chairman and spent billions in vain. Ol Kalou told President Ruto not to follow the Moi manual. In Mt Kenya it's the people that show where their leaders must take them. Those light featherweight politicians from Kiambu telling President Ruto that Kikuyus will vote for him in 2027 are rent seekers wanting to feed on his fodder ala SK Macharia of the 90s.

Earlier this week, I was in a meeting that was honestly very sad. Over 30 artists do not own their music yes most of the hits you know, their names, or even the rights to their images and this is in perpetuity. This has had serious consequences: many music groups have stopped releasing songs because anything they create does not belong to them, and they cannot secure endorsements since they don’t own their image rights.

When they tried to exit, some of them were sued in California and are now required to pay the label $1 million. We are witnessing one of the most significant IP cases of our time. I am confident they will eventually get out of it.

We sit in these meetings not as politicians, but as citizens advocating for policies that shape how our industry operates, grows, and sustains livelihoods.
