Maryland Breeders and Exhibitors – A bill is being considered on Wednesday (March 11) that would require annual registration for all dog breeders, and $50 birth certificates for every puppy whelped. The costs would be put into an account to support shelters and spay/neuter programs, as well as to help fund the administration of this new registration program. Urgent GR Message for NJ Clubs: A bill regarding pet stores has been amended and could now regulate hobbyists. Monday January 12 is the last day of session and the Assembly will be voting on this. It is unclear if the Senate will. Please call your State Senator and ask them to OPPOSE S. 2511 and call your State Assemblyperson and ask them to OPPOSE A. 4051 until they can clarify that it will not impact responsible hobby breeders.
