Colin Vearncombe composed "Wonderful Life" in just 10 minutes in one of the worst periods of life: divorce, two car accidents, a sick mother, with no home and almost no money. The title "Wonderful Life" is totally ironic, Colin was being sarcastic about the "wonderful" life, but the audience interpreted it as positive. First released in 1986 on Ugly Man Records, it reached #72 on the UK Singles Chart. Re-released in August 1987 by A&M (after the hit "Sweetest Smile"), and was a worldwide hit: #8 on the UK Singles Chart, #1 in Austria, #2 in Germany, France and Switzerland, #7 in Australia and top 10 in several European countries.

“Don’t You (Forget About Me)” was written by Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff especially for the soundtrack of The Breakfast Club (1985). Simple Minds were initially reluctant to record it because it was not their own composition, and Jim Kerr was unsure about parts of the lyric. Before the Scottish band finally accepted it, the song had also been offered to artists such as Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol.

In the end, Kerr’s then-wife Chrissie Hynde helped persuade the band to give it a chance. Although it never appeared on a contemporary Simple Minds studio album and was associated mainly with the film’s soundtrack, the track became the group’s biggest hit in the United States, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for one week in May 1985, their only American chart-topper.

"Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" is the biggest hit of the Spanish duo Baccara (formed by Mayte Mateos and María Mendiola). They worked as singers and dancers in a hotel in the Canary Islands when German producer Rolf Soja heard them and composed the music especially for them in 1977.

Released as the first single of their career, the track reached #1 in the United Kingdom (being the first Spanish artists to achieve this), #1 in several other countries of the continent and sold more than 16 million copies worldwide. With its danceable groove, addictive chorus and glamorous look, the song became one of the biggest Eurodisco hits of the 70s.
