A brilliant evening at the @MuseumOfCroydon for the private view of The Sound of Croydon: Celebrating Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
The first exhibition in the refurbished gallery since 2019 – with half of visitors so from ethnic minority communities with 95% saying it made them feel proud of Croydon.
Art brings us together and reflects the diversity that makes our borough special.
@BRITSchoolMusic students closed the night with outstanding performances as we continue to mark composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s 150th anniversary.
A fantastic celebration of a true Croydon legend and thank you to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for making it possible.

Gillet & Johnston was established as a clock makers in 1844 and was one of the first steam-powered clock works in the world, later expanding into a bell foundry in 1877!
Today you can see their clocks & bells all over the world- Malaysia, Iran and India to New Zealand and Brazil
