The 2020's have had no shortage of excellent music being released. In 2021 I found over 100 albums I would consider an 8/10 or higher. Cutting it down to 50 was no easy task. Every album here was an essential part of my year and I would recommend them all depending on your taste.

Time for one final jazz album in 2021. Listening to it for the second time this morning. Eckroth plays a variety of keys and sometimes sings. When the woodwinds join in things get wild. You could enjoy this delightful record even if you’ve never heard a jazz album in your life.

The #1 pick has to go to Sufjan Stevens, who released yet another indie folk masterpiece on par with even Carrie & Lowell to me. This album moves me like nothing else this year and the atmospheric nature of this album is absolutely gorgeous. 'Olympus' is my favorite track of 2021

After wrestling between this and Gumbo'!, I had to give hip-hop AOTY to Little Simz. I knew this album was going to be a masterpiece and yet this still blows me away each time I listen. Little Simz created an epic, cinematic rap album that showcases her immense artistic talent.
