Mbale City is home to two taxi parks and one bus park, but the real heartbeat of urban mobility lies in its taxi parks. The oldest, the Old Taxi Park, accommodates up to 90 taxis, thanks to the introduction of symmetrical parking during the city’s trade organization era.

Over time, Mbale Taxi Park has transformed from a colonial-era transit point into Eastern Uganda’s busiest and most vibrant transport hub. It seamlessly connects travelers to key destinations like Kampala, Malaba, and Tororo, with fares ranging between 5,000 and 35,000 UGX across major routes.

The Old Taxi Park remains a lively gateway for both eastern and selected western routes. Visitors can experience the pulse of the city here, with fares that are fairly priced, slightly adjusted, and often negotiable especially for those traveling with luggage.

1. Mbale – Bududa via Manafwa: 5,000 UGX, while Bududa Express offers a faster option at 7,000 UGX.

2. Mbale – Lwakhakha via Manafwa: 5,000 UGX, with Lwakhakha Express at 7,000 UGX for quicker travel.

3. Mbale – Bumbo via Manafwa: 5,000 UGX, while Bumbo Express via Magale is 7,000 UGX.
4. Mbale – Busia via Tororo: 10,000 UGX (formerly 7,000), while Busia Express stands at 13,000 UGX; fares may vary slightly with luggage.

5. Mbale – Busolwe via Nabiganda: 5,000 UGX, while Busolwe Express is 8,000 UGX.
6. Mbale – Gulu: 40,000 UGX; fares remain stable, with minor adjustments possible for luggage.

7. Mbale – Kampala via Tirinyi: 35,000 UGX, while trips to Jinja remain affordable at 15,000 UGX.

8. Mbale – Bukhaweka: 7,000 UGX (a unique route with only two taxis operating on scheduled departures and returns).
