On the occasion of our 40th anniversary we were pleased to be recognised through warm wishes from His Majesty The King. This follows congratulations received from Buckingham Palace on our 25th anniversary. The kind words shared in a letter to our Chief Executive Khalid Javid respond to our decades of humanitarian service and the dedication of our teams supporting communities around the world. At a time when multiculturalism has been sorely undervalued, gestures from those in positions of power that recognise the positive and historic role of faith communities in Britain’s social fabric are welcome.

We extend our sincere thanks to His Majesty for his message and for acknowledging this milestone as we continue our mission to serve those most in need. We hope a time comes when charity is no longer required to respond to all the suffering in the UK and around the world, but until that time comes, we will not stop serving in keeping with our values of dignity and justice.

In displacement settings across Sudan, many women rely on informal work to survive. But without safe menstrual protection, even leaving the house can become a source of fear.

When women are forced indoors during their periods, they lose income. It becomes a cycle. A double poverty of money and mobility.

This week marks International Women’s Day. Menstrual health must be treated as essential in humanitarian response, not an afterthought.
