Are you a Muslim who consumes a lot of the “Self-Help” content out there?
You may be internalising Islamically problematic content without realising!
Here's an easy 4-part test to see if the content aligns with our faith:
An interesting thing to note about the political analysis of Ghamidi sb and his people is that if we take away their islam and muslim-ness, it would cause absolutely no difference to their geo-political outlooks and views, however if we take the political and social superiority of america away from the picture, not only their politics but very islamic values would shift - since the modern liberal value system based on the global power of the american state appears to be a core tenet of ghamidian socio-political fiqh.
"The modern individual is not merely free to choose; he is required to choose(...)result is a state of optimization anxiety, in which life is experienced less as something to be lived and more as a portfolio of choices that require constant management and performance evaluation."
@MrAdnanRashid You sound at least 20-30 iq points higher when you speak in Urdu. I enjoyed the eloquence and nuance on display relative to your English.
Despite my tweets criticising, I think it's more an issue of the communication style you've adopted when it comes to English writing/speaking
@Haqiqatjou@MusaAdnan@YasirAlHanafi "people won't buy it" - Br Musa, what do you think most reasonably intelligent people 'buy" when they read br Adnans posts or watch even a few mins of that infamous interview? I assumed the market was dumb youths on the "salafi" burnout pipeline.
@BroHajji Again, blocking is not a big deal brother. People use the block button differently. For you, blocking someone might be really rare and serious, others use it more liberally.
Does it anger you? If so, why?
@BroHajji@YasirAlHanafi Unless a transcript-like version is released with context, that statement or words alluding to it is enough to say the supposed individual is "arrogant, boastful"?.
I would like to doubt, he impromptu started talking about his fame without any leading related discussion.
The Modern Morning Suffering Cycle:
Wake up in a haze with insufficient REM sleep
Insufficient REM = poor emotional processing
Open social media
Blue light hits eyes
Cortisol response
Social media has fear mongering and emotionally reactive content
Cortisol rises more
Brain hyper fixates on the content, searching for more
Continue to read/watch content
Reach decision fatigue (only limited decisions can be made each day)
Dopamine reserves sapped
“I can’t focus I have ADHD”
Reach for caffeine
Doesn’t work
Seek out cheap dopamine in form of food, cheap media, porn
“Why am I gaining weight?”
More stress about the situation
By afternoon, decision/dopamine reserved are toasted
“I’m so tired”
Take more caffeine/stimulants
“Why am I so anxious?”
Can’t sleep at night
Opens phone and scrolls for hours with reserve bedtime procrastination
Light at night raises cortisol and lowers melatonin
Insufficient deep sleep
Body feels more tired
Less likely to workout, more likely to gain fat
More likely to get injured -> more fat -> more stress
Insufficient REM sleep…. Back to where we started
REPEAT
Change your morning, change your life
This small loop changes your hormonal output, changes your reality, and allows companies to monetize your attention
@AshikSamad2k9@BroHajji Well @BroHajji has himself done a fundraiser before. Considering his recent lines of enquiry, I think he should remind people of this periodically.
Most of the people reacting emotionally probably think it's about asking for money full stop, and not the issue of receipts
Does anyone know what the actual radicalising factor was for him? Intuition and exp tells me that it was likely getting beaten up and the trauma of "they don't fight fair". In school years, one side sticking up for each other vs "fight for yourself" has existential effects.
Emily Thornberry has today said the government has let down the Palestinian people, and allowed Israel to act with impunity.
The audacity.
Here she is in October 2023 refusing to condemn Israel cutting off power and supplies to Gaza.
Don’t let these people rewrite history.
I, personally, don’t think I would ever vote for a Muslim to be frank. Everytime I see a “Muslim” candidate, I immediately look to see what his non-Muslim counterparts have to say. And I’m not very committed to electoral politics, especially not nationally. The thing that’s weird is that imams, “scholars”, and the average Muslim living in the “West” expect non-Muslim politicians to live up to Islamic ethical standards but tolerate Muslims who regularly violate those standards. That’s totally backwards. You should expect kufr from a kafir and iman from a supposed mumin, not the opposite. And while there are plenty of paid mercenaries and useful idiots fostering hate against Muslims, Muslims need to admit that woke Muslim politicians do more harm to the image of Muslims and Islam than the average adherent does. Outsiders always judge communities by their most prominent members. We do the same to others. And since almost all the most familiar Muslim faces and voices to non-Muslims are crazy Marxist or reckless conservative Muslims who have no favorable word to say about America and Western society, it’s only natural that so many will treat us like a fifth column. It might be true that non-Muslims have to do their own due diligence and research about Islam. But remember that the vast majority of people are not won over by a good argument or a nice documentary. They respond to beautiful conduct, kind treatment, and moral excellence.
@mohammed_hijab Audience creep. "We can't or shouldn't say x because 65% of our donations come from sisters"
Surely that had/has some part to play in the compassionate imam phenomenon.
@mohammed_hijab Considering funding for organisations doing Dawah work is now primarily fundraising from the audience and not sponsorship, the incentives at play should be highlighted.
This is exactly how you end up with wacky results. Starts off all nice. Ends up reflecting incentives.
