From our earliest days, Black history has always been American history – and Black folks have profoundly shaped our American culture through music, art, literature, sports, and beyond. One month a year is not sufficient to celebrate the power of the movements and the people who have fought for the rights we enjoy today. That’s something that we have to do each and every day, as we strive to live up to their example and make sure our children and grandchildren remember their stories.
To recap, Trump:
-Forced out the FAA chief at Musk's insistence
-Imposed a hiring freeze that reportedly included air traffic controllers
-Fired the TSA head and gutted a key aviation safety committee
-Blamed the DCA crash on DEI
This is disastrous leadership.
If Biden hired so many unqualified FAA employees, as Trump says — then why were there ZERO commercial air accidents in the US during Biden’s administration?
Victims are still in the water.
The Blackhawk crew is still strapped into the cockpit.
Families are mourning.
And Trump is blaming DEI, suggesting our pilots and air traffic controllers don't deserve their jobs.
We need compassion and leadership—
Our President showed none.
@Acyn This is odd, considering the Trump - Musk administration wants to replace seasoned federal agency workers with novices whose only requirement is loyalty to Trump.
Trump has so far blamed the deadly DCA plane crash on Barack Obama, Joe Biden, the Democratic Party, Pete Buttigieg, the 2020 election, and diversity.
No evidence was provided.
If a Democrat fired 100 FAA employees and put a freeze on hiring air traffic controllers 8 days before an airport plane crash, there would be a right-wing and media frenzy for weeks.
Prevented? YOU DID THIS @realDonaldTrump.
On your 2ND DAY, you:
1. Fired the head of the Transportation Security Administration
2. Fired the entire Aviation Security Advisory Committee
3. Froze hiring of all Air Traffic Controllers
4. Fired 100 top FAA security officers
Karine Jean-Pierre earned two degrees, has worked in politics for 21 years, including on 5 presidential campaigns and in 2 administrations, and — just to put a cherry on top — speaks 3 languages.
Go ahead and tell the class what is “DEI” about her. Let’s hear it.
