Starting November 7, 2024:
𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 – a temporary exhibition offering an exploration into the world of human conflict throughout history, as revealed through archaeological artifacts, particularly weapons unearthed in various archaeological contexts across Sălaj.

On Nov, there is a service held at the cemetery; flowers and wreaths are brought to the graves, but it is not customary to light candles—only some people who come from other places do so now. This is also the day for cleaning the graves and paying tribute to those who have passed

Everyone had at least a🐄, a buffalo, because 🥛 was needed for the 👶🧒. We would have milk every day: with a slice of bread, with a bit of polenta, or sometimes just plain. Often, we’d drink a cup of warm milk fresh from the buffalo, pouring it straight from the bucket."

In some Sălaj villages, brides’ beds were beautifully decorated on the porch, showcasing their dowry for all wedding guests to admire. After the ceremony, the bed was dismantled, symbolizing the start of their new life together. #Traditions #Salaj #RomanianHeritage

In #Almașu, the bed with the dowry was made at both the bride's and groom's homes. The bride's bed had 12 pillows, stacked in layers to show off the wealth. The groom's had 6. After the wedding, the bed was paraded through the village for all to see, then it was stored away.
