Breaking: The Samburu Governor, who initially resisted appearing before the Senate committee and attacked Sifuna, was unable to properly account for KSh 104 million that was spent on food.

Senators pointed to several irregularities and raised concerns that some documents may have been forged.

In one instance, a delivery note from a supplier named Narinyo was dated 1 July 2024, yet county records show it was received on 22 June 2024, meaning the document was received before it was even created.

The county also struggled to provide a complete list of schools that allegedly received the food purchased with the KSh 104 million.

These revelations may explain why there was resistance to appearing before the committee.

What makes this especially troubling is that Samburu remains one of Kenya's poorest counties. If public funds meant for feeding programmes cannot be accounted for, it is ordinary residents and school children who pay the price.
