@hakiKNCHR Vice chairperson Dr. Raymond Nyeris today led a delegation of KNCHR team for a courtesy call to The Speaker of The National Assembly @HonWetangula . The two institutions discussed ways to continuously work towards strengthening human rights related legislative efforts to ensure the country remains at par with the National, Regional and International Human rights Standards. The Commission acknowledged that it is the laws passed at the assembly that give impetus to the work of the Commission and thus also called on the Speaker to support the Commission in ensuring it is well resourced to discharge its Constitutional mandate.
@HakiKNCHR led by Commissioner Prof. Marion Mutugi was invited to present oral submissions to the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations on the alleged human rights violations by the British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK).
The Constitution of Kenya entitles Kenyans to accurate consumer information and these rights should be held to the highest standards.
