Had a solid dad joke at the chick fil a today, the person ordering ahead of me only spoke Spanish which was making it difficult for the poor trainee at the counter. So when it was my turn I started off in German. I thought this was exceptionally funny, my wife not so much
NYC now legally requires companies to make cancelling a subscription as simple as signing up, the first US city to do so
"If you can sign up with a click, you must be able to cancel with one," Mayor Zohran Mamdani said
Mayor @ZohranKMamdani on cutting down wasteful budget spending:
There was waste. There's also this addiction to consulting. When we looked at the city budget, we realized we had to save money through efficiency. So we set up something called 'Chief Savings Officers' in every department. We saved $94M just by renegotiating contracts to a better rate. We saved $24M by letting go of unused office space. I believe that government has to be the most excellent, efficient version of itself to be worthy of people's trust.
In the final minute of the game, you saw a coaching masterclass on both sides:
- Mike McCarthy taking the 10-second runoff when time wasn't an issue for the Browns
- Todd Monken calling passing plays after they were well within field goal range
- Todd Monken calling a timeout with 19 seconds left, thereby ensuring that the Steelers were guaranteed to get the ball back
- Todd Monken then having his kicker kick it out of the end zone for a touchback
- Mike McCarthy, with 10 seconds left and a timeout, needing 20 yards to get into range, calling a Hail Mary from his own 35
I'm going insane
The thing is, I don’t care.
I don’t care that a single mom bought her kid a cookie, I don’t care that a person working 40 hours a week bought a Sprite with SNAP, I don’t care that a person less fortunate than me was able to buy beef instead of chicken.
I DO care, that we are supplementing trillion dollar corporations. Why are we funding private businesses? Why can’t they use their own money?
Happened to me once with a new teacher. I parked my car and went to the office to verify my identity. I was happy they didn’t just hand my kid over to anyone just claiming to be his father.
