This past weekend, U.S. Navy Sailors witnessed the Freedom 250 Grand Prix bring the NTT INDYCAR SERIES to the streets of Washington D.C. for the first time in history, racing past the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol as the nation marks its 250th birthday and the Navy marks its own.

Before the green flag, the U.S. Navy Band and Ceremonial Guard marched across the racetrack at walking pace, in perfect step. Overhead, U.S. Navy SH-60 helicopters flew over the captivated crowd staring at them from below. Behind these events is a team of dedicated service members who train and are ready to demonstrate the flawless precision and unwavering discipline of the U.S. military.

To any of the drivers interested in joining the Navy: if you can handle turns at 150mph, you can handle being on a ship. #FacesoftheNavy
