@PrettyDamnedHot@neoavatara Diplomats have diplomatic immunity to US laws and consequently aren't subject to the jurisdiction thereof. If illegal immigrants have similar immunity to US laws, then the concept of them being "illegal" immigrants is nonsensical.
@SpaghettiKozak@OcultShinobi (Nice follow up: His confusion about "So if the Trade Federation were like merchants moving goods and services around the Galaxy, then why did they seem more like a military with armies of robots?" when a megacorp with an army is a well-trod, even cliche sci-fi concept.)
@SpaghettiKozak@OcultShinobi Direct quote: "Anyways, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, they end up in the hangar bay somehow where the droid armies are being staged for an invasion. Why don’t the Jedi’s just start fighting all of them?"
@SpaghettiKozak@OcultShinobi Who could forget such legendary arguments as "why would a group called the trade federation care about trade", "Why don't Qui Gon and Obi-Wan attack literally an entire army by themselves" and of course, not even knowing that there's such a thing as an ensemble film.
@TW0HEADEDBEAST The difference is that since Luke brings back the Jedi in the EU, they can easily accommodate Order 66 survivors; it doesn't really matter if there's 100 Jedi or 106 Jedi by the New Jedi Order. Disney relies on Luke being the only Jedi and the films make little sense otherwise.
@JrHopeless I always wonder how people like this watch the movies. Do they genuinely believe one is supposed to cheer during Order 66 and it being set to some of the most tragic music ever written is just a directorial mistake?
@mightydudbolt If Qui-Gon thought the Republic was so close to disaster as to require a secret army, his confidence at the beginning of Episode I ("the negotiations will be short") would be strange.
@VirtualBayonet I've always been curious about the differences between the Freedom and Independence classes. The visual differences are certainly striking but I'm not sure the capability differences.
@jadexskywalker It isn't the slow speed of the chase that bothers me, it's that the Falcon just leaves the chase in the middle with no one trying to stop it. Just pack the Falcon with crew and ferry them away.
@SWForce4EU Shatterpoint is not only my favorite Star Wars novel, but my favorite novel of any kind. It's just so good. Dark Rendezvous is nearly as good. It's why I was skeptical at best of TCM; the Clone Wars Multimedia project wasn't perfect but so much of it was sooo good.
@clockstiqqun It certainly seems like you are intended to like Coltain and his army, who have come there to crush the rebels on behalf of an empire that's done nothing to deserve or earn their loyalty.
@clockstiqqun I bounced right off my Malazan when the second book wanted me to sympathize with the brutal, incompetent empire against the Seven Cities, and I saw no reason to do so.
@jadexskywalker Force Awakens, by establishing that the New Republic collapses without firing a shot in its own defense, the Jedi were not brought back and there was only one member born of the Skywalker-Solo family pretty much cut off any chance of using EU material, including Mara.
