"We are one and we shall not perish."
H.E. Thabo Mbeki’s words at the Wits Great Hall during the musical tribute to Tiyo Soga. A powerful evening dedicated to restoring African memory through the hymns of a true pathfinder.
🙏🏿 this is the stuff of beautiful dreams really🙏🏿
I first met MamLetta almost 30yrs ago officially at a dinner to launch a place they called “Back of the Moon” here in Jozi. All the legends were there, I mean all of them, and little me of course.
I was always in rooms I was too small to be in but felt so at home there.
I chased her down a passage and sang “Tristeza”, telling her it was my favourite of her songs. She was shocked that I not only knew her music, but that I know that song in particular.
She has an astounding discography and her kindness and gentle mentorship have carried me through the 30 sum years I have been in this business. She influenced everyone.
If you listen to the opening of Mamani you might hear what you would later hear in the voice of Busi Mhlongo.
She is an integral part of the South African voice and technique. #LettaMbulu
My ‘strange’ has refused to be abandoned by me. My ‘strange’ demanded to stay when life without it would have been easy and acceptable. My ‘strange’ saved me..! My ‘strange’ has been boundary refusing to mingle for the sake of. My ‘strange’ my ‘strange’ kept real…real.

My maternal grandfather lived a life that somehow mirrors mine and I am blessed and grateful to have had someone I could look up to as an example of knowing who you are and not compromising that for anything. #ZukileTyakam#Tshonyane
Not all bands are bigger than it’s original members and I so wish after a break up some bands are brave to leave the old name and start something totally fresh. That said I don’t see the new Freshly Ground being Freshly Ground without ‘The One That Sings.’ I wish I’m wrong!!
The utter caucasity of thinking your ‘privilege’ will still work in 2026. That as a real estate agent turned ‘crime forensic expert’ we will take your tales as gospel and glorify you. When finally put to the test to qualify your claims caucasitly you again try the privilege card
You will think you’re a good person until you fall in love or enter a relationship. Then you’re stripped bare. Love confronts all of your insecurities, vices, weaknesses and toxic traits.
Shows you you’re not that patient or kind. Not as forgiving or tolerant as you thought.
