Emmett Till. Latasha Harlins. Aiyana Jones. Trayvon Martin. Jordan Davis. Tamir Rice. Michael Brown. Tyre King. Antwon Rose Jr. Stephon Clark. Elijah McClain. Ahmaud Arbery. Cyrus Carmack-Belton.
These are not just names in a headline.
They were children, teenagers, sons, daughters, brothers, friends, and young people with entire lives ahead of them.
Their stories stretch across nearly 70 years, from 1955 to 2023. Different places. Different moments. Different circumstances. But each one forced America to look at painful questions about race, justice, fear, power, and accountability.
Some cases ended with convictions. Some ended with acquittals. Some never even made it to trial. And for many families, the outcome never felt like real justice.
Behind every name was a life that should have continued. A family that should not have had to grieve. A future that should not have been taken.
This thread looks back at who they were, what happened, and what followed in the courts and in the country.
Because remembering them matters.
Because their stories are part of America’s story.
And because every single one of them should still be here today.
Abusive boyfriend violently hits a woman in a crowded bar and gets immediate payback from other men who witnessed it.
Swift justice, right?

@endracism001 Where did the teacher come from... All the while she abused the Muslim girl noone did anything soon as she jumped on her @$$ here comes someone saying stop. Nope keep the same energy
My classmate was raped on her way back home from university and got pregnant, but couldn’t get an abortion due to the laws. She had to drop out of university where she was studying medicine. Because of pregnancy and childbirth expenses, she couldn’t continue her studies, left college, started working at a coffee shop, lost the fun of her early twenties, and lost the chance to attend international medical conferences she once dreamt of… all just to give birth to a child she never wanted.
People say, “What if the baby you abort grows up and cures cancer?”
Okay — but what if the 19-year-old you deny an abortion to grows up and cures cancer?
Now she can’t afford to get an education. Instead, she has to take care of a baby. What about her? An actual living human being???
“Abortion ends potential life”… So do property disputes, war, and genocide. You only seem to care about lives when women don’t give birth to them.
