A 24 year old from Chicago who still lives with his parents spent months studying sports betting books and found a legal edge in football parlays. He won $800,000 across two Caesars casinos. Caesars voided every ticket and sent his $50,000 stake back instead. Two state gaming commissions sided with Caesars. He is now suing them in federal court.
– Thomas McPeek is a 24 year old from suburban Chicago who lives with his parents.
– He spent months reading sports betting publications and studying parlay structures, bets where multiple events all have to happen to produce a win.
– He identified what he believed was a consistent edge in certain football wagers where Caesars was pricing odds in ways that gave a sharp bettor an advantage.
– In August 2024 he walked into the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond Indiana with roughly $30,000 and placed hundreds of small bets at self-service kiosks over the course of a week.
– He won $350,000.
– In September he moved to the Isle Casino in Bettendorf Iowa also owned by Caesars and won another $450,000.
– He placed his bets in small amounts at kiosks specifically to avoid drawing attention.
– Total winnings across both casinos: $800,000.
– When McPeek returned to collect at Horseshoe in October 2024 his winning tickets were voided.
– Caesars said he had violated their house rules by coordinating bets across state lines and by structuring his wagers in small amounts.
– Caesars refunded his original $50,000 stake. They kept the rest.
– One casino had already paid him before catching on. Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City Indiana paid him $127,000 in winnings then asked him never to return.
– McPeek filed complaints with gaming regulators in both Indiana and Iowa. Both sided with Caesars.
– In 2025 he filed a civil lawsuit against Caesars in US District Court in Nevada.
– Caesars filed a motion to dismiss in July 2025 arguing the lawsuit was filed in the wrong jurisdiction and that McPeek had agreed to their terms when placing his bets.
– "It's not like I can snap my fingers and make the bets win," McPeek told CBS News. "They still have to win."
– The case is still ongoing.

The IRS is threatening to seize a Tennessee man's farm after charging him interest on a $20,000 refund it accidentally sent him, which he immediately tried to return.
Wilson Perry Kirby, 76, says he was accidentally sent $20,000 by the IRS in 2022.
Kirby immediately tried returning the money and even hired an accountant to fix the issue.
Instead, the IRS is now charging him interest on the money he tried returning and is withholding his 2025 tax refund.
"I've tried the president, governor, mayor. They don't mind asking you to vote for them, but when you need help you can't get ahold of nobody," Kirby said.
Despite trying to fix the problem, the IRS is still sending letters, demanding he pay interest on the money they accidentally sent him that he tried to return. He never spent it.
The IRS is now threatening to seize his farm if he doesn't pay the up to $4300 (and growing) interest.
Infuriating.

The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition’s official advice if your bike is stolen is to “consider the potential impact of calling the police” on the criminal.
The most disturbing part of part 3 is when Reckless Ben reveals Bricks and Minifigs subpoenaed Google to trap him. Ammon McNeff tricked Ben into emailing their franchise department instead of the ghost email on their site to legally demand his private data.
Google handed over hundreds of hours of raw footage, emails, search history, and location metadata. This behavior is dangerous because it weaponizes legal discovery to spy on a journalist and silence free speech.
Instead of addressing the big theft, Ammon used a coordinated trap to strip his privacy. It shows the terrifying lengths BAM leadership will go to intimidate and silence anyone exposing their bad practices.
Mitch McConnell is reportedly brain dead. The journalist who broke his cardiac arrest is at the hospital waiting for them to move his body. Her name is Desirée Townsend.
She's the independent reporter who obtained the EMS scanner audio confirming paramedics performed CPR at McConnell's D.C. home on June 14. NBC and CBS spent a week catching up to her.
Yesterday she tweeted that she's physically at the hospital, that multiple sources have told her the 84-year-old senator has been declared brain dead, and that his Capitol Police detail was still there as of 3:39pm ET.
Laura Loomer posted the same claim, citing a White House source. McConnell's office will not confirm or deny. They insist he is "continuing to improve."
The brain-death claim is not yet verified. Here's what is.
McConnell has been hospitalized for three straight weeks with no public explanation.
His office has never said why he was admitted. His last vote was June 11.
His wife Elaine Chao was photographed in Beijing meeting the Chinese vice president three days after her husband collapsed. She has not come home.
His daughter deactivated her X account.
Neighbors of his D.C. townhouse say no one has come or gone since the ambulance took him away. Not family. Not staff.
Kentucky's Democratic Governor Andy Beshear says McConnell's office is not returning his calls.
Now the politics.
Kentucky Republicans quietly rewrote the state's succession law in 2024. If McConnell's seat opens, Beshear cannot appoint a replacement. A special election gets triggered instead.
And the timing matters. If he can't finish his term after August 3, the special election just rolls into November. Before August 3, the GOP has to hold a standalone race.
They’re watching the calendar.
The election they're trying to avoid is the GOP's nightmare. Thomas Massie, the Republican congressman who has become one of Trump's loudest critics, would be a heavy favorite to run and split the red vote wide open.
Every day they hide McConnell's condition is a day they don't have to hold that race.
Whatever is actually happening in that hospital room, this is the picture from outside it: a senator who has not been seen in three weeks, a wife who left the country, a family that has gone dark, a governor being frozen out, and a party racing the clock on a succession law they wrote themselves.
Townsend is still at the hospital.
I know cancer survivors who volunteered for the AFU to defend Ukraine.
I know 50kg women who volunteered for the AFU to defend Ukraine.
I know people with high paying jobs who went back and volunteered for the AFU to defend Ukraine.
The TCC needs reform and proper oversight the Ukrainian authorities need to pass sensible laws on mobilizations.
But I have 0 sympathy for these traitors to their country who attack people in uniform while their country is under existential threat.
Fuck it, in this case, act like russia: draft them all and send them to clear mines in Pokrovsk.
It's so scary to think we have to find somewhere to store the dangerous waste like a desert or underground or something, which is a major problem unlike with fossil fuels where we safely store the waste in the atmosphere and our lungs
NUCLEAR POWER.
IT DOESN'T CARE IF THE SUN'S SHINING OR THE WIND'S BLOWING.
IT DOESN'T NEED BATTERIES FULL OF COBALT OR LITHIUM DUG UP BY CONGOLESE CHILD SLAVES IN CHINESE-OWNED MINES.
AND IT HAS LOWER LIFETIME GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS THAN SOLAR, AND ABOUT THE SAME AS WIND.
IT'S NOT EVIL DEVIL MAGIC. IT'S METAL THAT GETS HOT AND BOILS WATER TO MAKE STEAM THAT TURNS TURBINES.
THERE'S NO SMOKE. THE SHIT THAT COMES OUT OF THE COOLING TOWER IS JUST STEAM.
NUCLEAR PRODUCES AT LEAST A HUNDRED TIMES LESS RADIOACTIVE POLLUTION THAN COAL WHICH CONTAINS TRACE RADIOACTIVE ELEMENTS WHICH GO INTO THE AIR WHEN BURNED.
NUCLEAR POWER DOESN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE ALL NUCLEAR WASTE IS CONTAINED, AND NO NUCLEAR WASTE CASKET HAS EVER LEAKED IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICAN NUCLEAR POWER.
NUCLEAR POWER IS SAFE.
IT'S EFFECTIVE.
IT DOES LESS DAMAGE TO THE ENVIRONMENT THAN COAL, OR EVEN WIND AND SOLAR WHICH REQUIRE A FUCK TON OF LAND AND TOXIC METALS FOR WHICH WE HAVE NO PLAN TO DEAL WITH.
NUCLEAR POWER IS THE CLOSEST THING TO A PERFECT ENERGY SOURCE THE HUMAN SPECIES HAS EVER DISCOVERED.
WE'VE HAD THE TECHNOLOGY SINCE THE 1950S. IF WE EMBRACED IT FROM THE START, WE WOULDN'T HAVE CLIMATE CHANGE TODAY. WE COULD HAVE HAD ALL OF THE AIR CONDITIONING WE EVER WANTED, ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER MODERN CONVENIENCE WE'RE CONSTANTLY SHAMED FOR TODAY.
BUT WE SAID NO.
WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING AS A SPECIES?
ARE WE FUCKING RETARDED?
This photo is circulating around as if it was most horrific thing done ever while it doesnt even come close to what russians to do Ukrainian POWs and civilians in their torture chambers
The home of Danish privacy activist Lars Andersen was raided by masked police forces after he published his 'two favourite numbers', a 10 digit and a 8 digit number, spelled out in letters; it were the social security and phone number of Mette Frederiksen, the Prime Minister of Denmark, who wants to ban encryption (CSA) and introduce mass surveillance.
"Rules for thee, but not for me..."
Trump’s press conference was INSANE:
He confirmed that:
• Iran gets $300B + $100B unfrozen
• Iran has the RIGHT to ballistic missiles
• The U.S. was running out of oil
• A worldwide depression was coming
I was predicting all of this from the first week including that REPARATIONS were coming and got a lot of hate for it.
The sellout MAGA frauds are now going to change their entire life-philosophy and deeply held “principles” over night.
Trump is on his knees. This was ALWASY the ONLY way it was going to end. Even if he thinks he can start the war again. Iran will always win.
It’s check mate. Always has been.
Dear Every MAGA Idiot Who Insisted A Few Days Ago That The New Algae In The Reflecting Pool Was Just "Residual Algae" Coming Out Of The Pipes,
NO. IT. WASN'T.
It turns out that painting the bottom of the pool dark blue to make it "prettier" had an unintended consequence your idiot Developer in Chief and his idiot "pool guys" who'd never coated a pool before never considered: the darker color heats the water extra fast, and the higher temperature speeds up algae growth.
So, not only did he fail to fix the one problem he set out to fix, but he also made the whole thing WORSE by being a arsehole.
When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world stopped.
Today, Russia damages Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself.
A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection.
Russia bombed the Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kyiv overnight, destroying Ukraine's largest costume archive, roughly 100,000 costumes and 3 million clothing items, built up over decades of Ukrainian filmmaking history. Gone.
This wasn't incidental. It's part of a pattern of strikes on Ukrainian cultural sites, alongside this week's hit on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, that target memory and identity, not just infrastructure.
I hope the international film community responds loudly. And I'd add this: after four years of full-scale war, some Western festivals are quietly making room again for Russian films and "Russian perspectives." Whatever the intent, gestures toward neutrality in this context don't read as balance, they read as normalization.
Notre-Dame was built from 1163–1345.
Kyiv Pechersk Lavra was founded in 1051, with the Dormition Cathedral being built from 1073-1078, predating Notre-Dame by over a century.
When did launching missiles into major Christian cathedrals become normalized?
Russia wants to destroy Ukrainian Christianity. Anyone pretending otherwise is lying to you.

me in the first half hour: this dude is going a lot of legally dubious stuff to harass retail employees that's kind of fucked.
me on part 2: oh, this dude just uncovered a fucking mormon police conspiracy because they got cocky in their ability to literally steal from people huh
