“The Protocores don’t mean anything!” Well... actually, I think they do! And they mean a lot. ☝🏻🤓

In this little analysis, I wanted to explore how the Protocores, together with each character's eye color, seem to follow a narrative structure. To me, they work as visual and narrative leitmotifs that help shape each character's symbolism, psychology, and even the designs of their myths.

One of the things that fascinated me the most was seeing how each pair of characters seems to complement one another through their respective elements. Their similarities don't just stop at their personalities or narratives, they may also extend to the visual language connecting their eye colors and Protocores. It makes me wonder if the devs intentionally designed them this way.

Of course, I want to make it clear that the connections between the Protocores, colors, and lore are one thing... but everything related to future myths is purely speculation. Some of my conclusions might be a stretch so it's important to remind everyone that this is just a theory, and only time will tell if any of it turns out to be true.
Maybe the Protocores don't necessarily hint at future myths through their colors, but their designs still seem to reflect each character's symbolism, powers, and narrative themes.

I also know that color symbolism can vary depending on culture. This analysis is mainly based on the meanings that are most familiar where I live, as well as the information I found. If you have a different interpretation, I'd love to hear it! 😺

I also apologize in advance if I got any details wrong. I'm not an expert on every LI's lore (yet), but I really enjoy learning about all of them. So if you know something that could support, improve, or even correct certain aspects of this theory, please feel free to share!

I also want to clarify that these comparisons aren't meant to rank characters or put one above another. I know some people may find it weird (or even upsetting) to see their main compared to someone they don't like. My only goal is to explore how these characters, as foils or narrative counterparts, may share similar themes, structures, or symbolism.

Rafayel and Valko are probably the most speculative section simply because we still know so little about Valko. This doesn't mean Rafayel "needs" Valko or that his lore is somehow incomplete. Rafayel already has an incredibly rich story that stands perfectly well on its own. My point is simply that, if Valko was intended to be his narrative counterpart, there may still be missing elements we haven't had the chance to see yet.
