@CastlesAddict@SleeperNFL@SleeperAZCards I mean he threw in a 65% start incentive, that to me is more than a relief role.
And if he isn't willing to play perhaps he should retire. Cardinals aren't looking like they will bend on this, and if he refuses a role, then I could see it turning ugly.
That last point is right. But there zero value to not starting Beck some this season. you start him and he sucks you know. You start him and he performs then you got your guy in 2027.
On your first note, he accepted this deal instead of betting on himself in 2025, that's the risk you take and it would be laughable if he refused to start
@CastlesAddict@SleeperNFL@SleeperAZCards That's not how contracts work, he can't just go anywhere else lol.
And you can clearly see he anticipated starting when he signed his 2 year deal in 2025 by adding playing time incentives at 50% and 65%. Doubt he sees 65% this year, by November I anticipate the job being Becks

@CastlesAddict@SleeperNFL@SleeperAZCards Also are you advocating for him to forgo 5.5 Mil and potentially pay back half of his signing bonus and hold out if the Cardinals say no?
Option 2, doesn't improve his chances of getting an increase in role or salary for 2027. And Cardinals don't have to do a damn thing with him, they have his rights for 2026.
Not sure how you find these the only 2 options. That's kinda wild. He's not starting all of 2026 if he starts at all.
You're not factoring in Brissett signing bonus last year. 3.5MM to keep Cash/Cap down both years. Plus can make another 2MM in playing time incentives.
At 33/34 if I am the organization (who are underdogs in every game), I am calling his bluff.
Either 1) he plays on his current deal, 2) he's traded to continue to be a backup, 3) he fakes an injury, 4) he holds out. There's no favorable outcome for him if the Cardinals just say no.
Option 1. He makes no more money, loses valuable new HC/playbook time
Option 2. He has less chance of starting in 26 (and 27 without any starts)
Option 3. Teams will take note of this hurting his 27
Option 4. The team fines him every day he misses and they recoup all their money
He's Jacoby Brissett a replacement level player. At best he is in the 30-40 range of QBs in the league. Is this Jacoby Brissett's burner account?
They know Brissett isn't the future of the team at 34. Whether Beck is their future or not can only be determined with him playing. Then if he is good, they have their guy and if he is bad, they will likely have a top pick to get their guy. Add in Brissett trying to hold the team up for extra money and this could end very poorly for Brissett as I do not see another starting job out there for him
That's not how this works, most rookies make less than that. Maye makes 4.1MM this year, Daniels makes 4.2MM. He's a bridge starter at best, he should start when there's a spot. If not he shouldn't be an NFL QB and have signed a 2 year deal last year. I wouldn't budge if I were the team. He will either report or be fined to make that salary much less than it is.
Because Kyler was hurt and they cut him? You're right a lot of teams would like him as their back up. But how does that help him get more money, which is the crux of this issue. He want's a bigger longer contract. Going to be someone else's back up does not achieve that. I would hope his preference is to start wherever he is, if not I wouldn't want him on a team
