This morning we held a community cycle around Stroud Green, London, N4. Despite the damp day it was a joy to see children developing their confidence in cycling on the road. We set off from Finsbury Park. Our marshals did a great job in keeping us safe. ๐ฒ ๐๐งต1/5
How joyous - seeing all these children discover their neighbourhood streets in this way. So important for children to have the freedom to ride safely to get to know the local geography. Wonderful! For those that have to power to enable clean transport pls act now. @perayahmet

Last Saturday, Haringey cycling organised a marshalled family ride around local animal murals.
We got an amazing turnout, because People Love Cycling. โฆ /1
This is fantastic. It's inspiring. We can have this too with the right political will. It's a matter of morality - it's about justice and equity in design approaches. Everyone can be safer. It's entirely possible. @HaringeyLabour@HaringeyGreens@CatherineWest1
Everyone says they care about road safety.
#Helsinki ๐ซ๐ฎ shows what that actually looks like.
Protecting children isnโt about wordsโitโs about design.
This is how you do it.
The rest is noise.
It's entirely possible with good designs that provide safe movement for all modes.
When will we get a protected cycling network in Haringey? Where is the political will and ethical commitment to saving lives and limbs?

Resident enquiry to @Zipcar how do we apply for a Zip Car pool on Cornwall Road, London, N4.
It is a quiet road with lowish car ownership.
The nearest pool is the North Side of Victoria Road but it would be good to have something this side of Stroud Green. @mikehakata
5) And the Stroud Green Rd was fine. Just normal levels of traffic. Works road closures can show us whatthe enviornment is like with reduced levels of traffic. Every area benefits from the visual/noise/danger reduction when there are less cars speeding through. @HaringeyLiving
1/5 Ferme Park Rd was closed for a week for water works! It was a huge relief to have reduced traffic in Stroud Green. Cyclists looked happier and it was surprising (without cars) how many there are -showing this is a popular route for cyclists. @mikehakata@HaringeyCyclist ๐งต
4) This is Upper Tollington Park - which also carries a lot of cyclists. It was SO much safer this week and it was lovely to see them looking much more relaxed. The road normally has 14k cars a day! It's too much.

To make our cities more human friendly, we do not lack space. What we lack is #imagination*!

As we move into the next chapter of Haringey's LTNs, Cllr @mikehakata highlights their positive impact.
๐ณ The Bounds Green, St Ann's, and Bruce Grove West Green LTNs were given the green light to continue.
Let's keep working together for a fairer, greener borough.
@HaringeyLiving@perayahmet@mikehakata This puts Haringey on the map. It's a big leap into a more sustainable, fairer, safer transport future. Well done for all involved in bringing this about. ๐
Our area suffers from terrible cut thru traffic - let's have targets to reduce it year on year! @GeorgioDu
These two-year trials are now concluding. Residents have long campaigned for this change & have suffered excessive cut through traffic for many years. They are a big step forward for the borough in creating safer fairer, healthier, cleaner streets.

@mikehakata Thank you for making safer greener spaces to enable a wider range of choices about how to get about our neighbourhoods and cities. More of this is needed! Change is never easy but it's essential to address multiple crises : climate, health, road safety, pollution, nature.
๐ The Safe and Sustainable Transport Strategy consultation has been extended to Friday, 6 December!
Share your ideas on how we can create safer streets, tackle air pollution, and improve connections across #Haringey.

#Antarctica has an area the size of #Europe. Just ONE glacier, slightly smaller than #Britain, is under huge threat. If it breaks, it could trigger 5 meters of sea level rise. The stakes couldnโt be higher for the major cities of the world. #SeaLevelRise
