Absolute humiliation for the Pentagon.
An expert confirms Russia bypassed traditional air defenses by launching the nuclear-capable Oreshnik missile straight into space.
It deploys six independent warheads that change direction mid-air to evade interception.
@cqcqcqdx They have a model L-600 in the pic, from what I can make out. I have one just like it.
When I see photos like this, I sometimes wonder if that’s MY same radio. Of course I know the odds are staggeringly against it, but it’s fun to think about.

The wonderful thing about shortwave radio is you get to work on classic, antique radios that pick up shortwave broadcasts. It’s a heck of a lot of fun and very satisfying to make 80+ year, old electronic equipment, fully functional again. Try it folks and listen to WBCQ 📻📻🇺🇸
Hey @X , I dropped my iPad, fumbled for it, and when I picked it up I had a notice “reported spam”. Didn’t mean to, no clue who , can’t figure out how to unreport it.
@calradiohistory Cool, was this an actual QSL card from the era, or a modern rendition? I ask because the radio seems a bit different from what I’ve seen for that time.
Before powering up vintage vacuum tube gear it's worth checking if the silver-gray 'getter' spot has turned chalky white indicating a loss of vacuum. At best they will light up for an instant and fail, at worst they will damage your gear.
Forget the digital babble, radio is the number one audio listening source in the world. Shortwave radio is the number one way to get your message across to a worldwide audience. WBCQ is the station of free speech worldwide. Come on board,https://t.co/ZQE70qCwOu will tell you how.
@adamcurry If anyone deserves the occasional show off, it’s you two. And this may be the best “best of” show yet, and I’ve been a listener / producer since 2010.
Even better @adamcurry is using the time to promote podcasting, something that benefits us all.
Well done, sir, well done. 73.
@cqcqcqdx I’ve been wanting to do this very thing, just haven’t had much luck finding vintage mics that were scrap enough I was willing to gut them and turn into lamps. I did find a 3d printed plastic mic at a hamfest I plan to make into one, just haven’t had time.
Hallicrafters made six pieces of test equipment. I now have five of them!
The only thing I don't have is the Hallicrafters oscilloscope. If anyone has one at a reasonable price let me know. Doesn't have to work.
@2Communications I have all the 38s, from the original, then the A, B, C, and D models. I also have 2 Echophones, which as I understand it was the predecessor. See more of my Hallicrafters at https://t.co/iCfmbtFDW6
