We’ve had so much fun with decimals this week in fourth grade! From turtle races, to Chick-Fil-A, we are practicing in ways we can really collaborate together!!
Giving students time with manipulatives and little to no explicit directions to see what they discover through their own exploration about fractions! The teacher acts as a facilitator- they noticed so many things!
Trying out giving students a word problem- minus the question! This really allows them to comprehend the problem and leaves it open ended to be solved and represented in so many different ways!
So excited to use read alouds to hone in on cultures in our classroom. We read them, then turn parts of the story into math problems to solve. “Culture doesn’t translate!” And this allows those students to be the experts!
Finding ways to build class community that take no time at all! We read the shout outs on Fridays and celebrate all of the positive things we notice and love about our peers! It starts fresh every Monday🤍
Enjoying an amazing training from @Seidlitz_Ed!!! Can’t wait to take learning back to the classroom during Math for ELs and ALL learners! 🤍 #FISDmadetoshine
