2. Direct switch. Diagonal longer pass. Very effective to trigger progression if the opposition is clearly engaged on the strong side. Normally from CB or CM to the widest player.

1. Simple switch. Safer, through our back line, with short passes. The opposition have enough time to shuffle across and will usually not trigger progression. Useful to move the opposition (attrition). Also, allows our team to keep possession and remain in control of the play.
