Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November. https://t.co/Tn2TQu5Djo
From Kyle, Dianna’s husband:
Two years ago, I married my smart, adventurous, curious best friend. I loved her curiosity and so did her 3M+ followers on her Science YouTube channel.
Now, she’s been 100% bedbound with long Covid for 1.5 years. She lays in a dark room, earplugs in, with only her mind and simple thoughts to keep her company. No, she can’t talk, watch TV, read books, listen to podcasts or even music. She can’t tolerate visitors (even the faint smell of laundry detergent makes her sicker). It’s a kind of locked-in hell and there’s currently no cure for this disease.
We desperately need more funding for research to find the cure for #longcovid and #MECFS . @SenDuckworth@SenMarkey@timkaine@BernieSanders
On this day 82 years ago, on February 19, 1942, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in the height of insanity of racism after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, signed Executive Order 9066.
It ordered all Japanese Americans on the West Coast to be summarily rounded up and imprisoned within 10 barbed wire prison camps, with no charges, no trial, no due process.
One day, a few months later, we saw two soldiers marching up our driveway, carrying rifles with shiny bayonets on them. They stopped up the porch right in front of our window and banged on the front door. My father answered, and one of the soldiers pointed the rifle at him, right in front of us, and ordered us out of our home. I had just turned five in April; it was May when they came to take us away.
My father gave my brother Henry and me two heavy suitcases. And we brought them out onto the driveway and waited for our mother to come out. When she did, she had our baby sister in one arm, a huge duffel bag in the other, and tears were streaming down her cheeks.
That is one morning that is seared into my memory. I will never be able to forget all the innocent people, my family included, who had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor, most of who were law abiding U.S. citizens, who were suddenly categorized as ‘enemy aliens.’
Today, I hear terrifying words from political leaders today that once more raise the specter of what happened before, right here in America.
Donald Trump and his allies are talking about rounding up 11 million people and putting them into mass detention camps before deporting them.
There won’t be time for due process, to sort out who is documented and who is not. Homes will be lost. Businesses, too. Families will be torn apart. Lives will be ruined, over fear and ignorance, all to serve the ambitions and agendas of politicians.
I know, because I lived through it.
I say, never again. Not while I have one ounce of fight still left in me.
Join me. Fight this madness. Help keep America from repeating the mistakes of its past.
BREAKING: Special Counsel Jack Smith hits back hard after Donald Trump demands that the Supreme Court refuse to rule on his supposed "presidential immunity," saying that the "public interest" requires a "prompt resolution" because the charges are of "utmost gravity."
As usual, Smith did not mince words...
Trump is currently begging the court NOT to step in and rule on his claim to immunity, because he wants as many delays and hurdles in place ahead of his criminal case. Clearly, Trump is deathly afraid that they'll rule against him.
"The public interest in a prompt resolution of this case favors an immediate, definitive decision by this Court. The charges here are of the utmost gravity," wrote Smith in his new filing to the justices.
Appropriately, Smith compared this case to the Watergate scandal.
"Here, the stakes are at least as high, if not higher: the resolution of the question presented is pivotal to whether the former President himself will stand trial – which is scheduled to begin less than three months in the future," stated Smith.
The Special Counsel went on to state that Trump "stands accused of serious crimes because the grand jury followed the facts and applied the law. The government seeks this Court’s resolution of the immunity claim so that those charges may be promptly resolved, whatever the result."
"Enforcing federal criminal laws that prohibit such conduct is vital to protecting our constitutional processes and democracy itself," he added.
Jack Smith is clearly in the right here. The only people who could possibly take Trump's side on this issue are diehard MAGA extremists. The Supreme Court must heed Smith's request.

BREAKING: Actor Robert De Niro blasts indicted 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, declares that Pres. Biden “on a gurney” is way better than another four years of “evil” traitor Trump as president.
Unfortunately for Trump, DeNiro didn’t stop there, declaring, “I think that if Biden was on a gurney and couldn’t move anything but his eyes to blink ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ he’s our person. There’s no way that he’s not the guy to take Trump down.”
In a call to action, De Niro says he hopes everybody gets out to vote.
“It’s a lot,” he told Rolling Stone while choking up. “I have no choice but to plow through. And my biggest concern now, with everything else, is us getting out of this situation with a monster in Trump. This is a classic grift. This is unreal.”
“If you look at other totalitarian countries like Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union, it will affect everybody in ways you can’t even imagine,” De Niro added.
The actor said he did not think Trump was a “monster” when he was first elected, but his thoughts have since shifted towards the former president.
“I thought, ‘Maybe he’ll straighten out.’ Now, this guy is beyond dangerous and I just hope people can realize it. Once you go down that road, it won’t be easy to come back.”
Earlier this month, Trump railed against De Niro after the actor criticized the former president in a speech last month at the Gotham Awards. Trump responded, arguing De Niro “should focus on his life, which is a mess, rather than the lives of others.”
Asked about Trump’s response to the speech, De Niro said, “The problem is people respond to him. God forbid he did become president — this is a road where, if we go down it, it will be very hard to turn around.”
De Niro even quoted former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), a staunch critic of Trump, telling Rolling Stone, “As Liz Cheney said, ‘He will not leave,'” and later called the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and Trump’s alleged efforts to stay in power “unbelievable.”

@SebJVidal @tomislav_godek True, but their static analyzer can determine if the symbol is referenced directly from your binary, vs indirectly via UIHostingController.
It’s safest to still use NSClassFromString, perhaps in a wrapper convenience view.
@brandur Call me old-school, but I’ve never felt comfortable with hosting my content anywhere but under my own control. I know it’s not easy for everyone to host their own sites, but there’s so many good tools these days, I feel it’s worth the extra effort.
@Rebeloper Put another way, SwiftUI feels like it’s there to make building apps in HTML or react native less appealing.
UIKit has a huge lead on SwiftUI, so I’m sure it’ll take a long time for latter to reach parity with the former.
@Rebeloper They serve very different needs. SwiftUI is simply the missing UI wrapper that makes simple/data-driven UI less tedious to build. UIKit still has a place for very fine-grained view layout that would be impractical in SwiftUI.
I love introducing web developers to the joy that is Swift and iOS app development. I’m running a hackathon team at work, and am coaching a React web dev through building an iPad app in SwiftUI/SwiftData, and she’s blown away by how mature and fun the dev tools and SDKs are. 🎉
BREAKING: Donald Trump drops bombshell in court, tells a judge that he can’t be disqualified from running for President in 2024 because he was not required to “support the U.S. Constitution” when he tried to steal Biden’s win and incited an insurrection.
It all started when a major ethics organization filed a lawsuit in Colorado to ban Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment, which bans insurrectionists from running for office.
Trump and his lawyers responded, telling the judge that “The Presidential oath, which the framers of the Fourteenth Amendment surely knew, requires the President to swear to 'preserve, protect and defend' the Constitution — not to 'support' the Constitution. Because the framers chose to define the group of people subject to Section Three by an oath to 'support' the Constitution of the United States, and not by an oath to 'preserve, protect and defend' the Constitution, the framers of the Fourteenth Amendment never intended for it to apply to the President."
There you have it folks. Dictator Trump is now openly telling judges and courts that he never “supported” the Constitution as president — and if he is elected president again in 2024 — will continue to commit open treason against the Constitution of the United States of America.
Trump is a threat to America’s struggling democracy — and belongs tar-and-feathered in a prison cell instead of the Oval Office so he can never incite a deadly insurrection nor attempt a coup ever again.

BREAKING: In a devastating speech, iconic actor Robert De Niro rips Donald Trump to shreds, declaring that Trump is “not a bad man,” but “an evil one” who is a “wanna be tough guy” and has “no morals or ethics.”
But Robert De Niro didn’t stop there…
De Niro continued:
“Trump has no sense of right or wrong. No regard for anyone but himself — not the people he was supposed to lead and protect, not the people he does business with, not the people who follow him, blindly and loyally, not even the people who consider themselves his “friends.” He has contempt for all of them.
The repercussions of his turbulent presidency divided America and rattled New York City beyond imagination. Remember how we were jolted by crisis in early 2020, as a virus swept the world.
We lived with Donald Trump’s bombastic behavior every day on the national stage, and we suffered as we saw our neighbors piling up in body bags.
The man who was supposed to protect this country put it in peril, because of his recklessness and impulsiveness. It was like an abusive father ruling the family by fear and violent behavior. That was the consequence of New York’s warning getting ignored. Next time, we know it will be worse.
Make no mistake: the twice-impeached, 4-time indicted Donald Trump is still a fool. But we can’t let our fellow Americans write him off like one. Evil thrives in the shadow of dismissive mockery, which is why we must take the danger of Donald Trump very seriously.
So, today I issue another warning.
From this place where Abraham Lincoln spoke — right here in the beating heart of New York — to the rest of America:
This is our last chance.
Democracy won’t survive the return of a wannabe dictator.
And it won’t overcome evil if we are divided.
So what do we do about it? We have to take today into tomorrow – take it outside these walls. We have to reach out to the half of our country who have ignored the hazards of Trump and, for whatever reason, support elevating him back into the White House. They’re not stupid, and we must not condemn them for making a stupid choice. Our future doesn’t just depend on us. It depends on them.
Let’s reach out to Trump’s followers with respect. Let’s not talk about “democracy.”
“Democracy” may be our holy grail, but to others it is just a word, a concept, and in their embrace of Trump, they’ve already turned their backs on it. Let’s talk about right and wrong. Let’s talk about humanity. Let’s talk about kindness. Security for our world. Safety for our families. Decency. Let’s welcome them back. We won’t get them all, but we can get enough to end the nightmare of Trump.”
Well said, Robert De Niro!

@adamlyttleapps @edanbenatar I love Apple’s iCloud Keychain, but it’s not so great when you want to store simple secure notes / text. Now that https://t.co/LqNYogCgJx supports secure notes, that might change …
There’s nothing like good ‘ol Beethoven to get your creative juices flowing when you have to focus on writing something, particularly when summarizing something complex into a series of coherent thoughts.
I started with Symphony No 3, and am now up to No 5. 🎶
Dear Ma & Pa MAGA,
Donald trump is not being “indicted for you.”
He‘s never done a thing for you.
Here’s what he promised you:
He said he would lower drug prices.
He didn’t.
He said he’d protect people with pre-existing conditions.
He didn’t.
He said he would repeal the Affordable Care Act, and replace it with something “beautiful.”
He didn’t.
He promised to eliminate the federal deficit.
He didn’t.
As a matter of fact, he increased it by almost $7.8 trillion.
He promised an infrastructure bill was coming in “2 weeks”.
It never came.
He promised to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it.
He didn’t and they didn’t.
He promised his tax cuts for the wealthy & corporations would pay for themselves.
They won’t.
In fact - they added $2 trillion to our national debt.
He promised to end the opioid crisis, ‘bring back coal’, protect steel jobs, increase wages, stop factories from moving overseas, enact term limits, show his taxes & that Hillary Clinton would be “locked up”.
He didn’t & she’s isn’t.
He said he would make America great and put America first.
He let a pandemic ravage the country unabated and kept our national security secrets in his bathroom.
And here’s what he did:
He used YOUR money to pay-off a porn star, mocked a disabled reporter, attacked a POW, bragged about sexual assault, got impeached (twice), lost re-election, plotted a coup, incited an insurrection, and stole highly classified documents he knew he wasn’t allowed to show anyone, but did.
So now he has found himself indicted on 34 state felony counts & 37 federal ones, all while still facing many more.
He didn’t do any of that “for you”.
He’s an incurious, incompetent imbecile, who is as corrupt and self-obsessed as he is dumb.
And he’s really, really dumb.
He’s a sociopathic traitor who’s done nothing for you.
Nothing.
He’s being indicted because of HIS actions.
His selfishness.
His disregard for the law and for the safety of our citizens.
Because the truth is, that aside from how much money you’ll send him to pay his many, many lawyers, that he doesn’t give a f*ck about you.
He doesn’t do anything for anyone but himself.
And getting indicted is 100% about him. Not you.
Believe me.
@PhotonEmpress I’m digging deep because the webcast was great IMO, but my favorite shots of Starship are ones that provide a sense of scale for this beast. For example, when the camera is showing people on the launch mount with the whole of the rocket in view.
Great work!
