That’s why people are addicted, anxious, and angry while living in the most comfortable era in history. You can’t fill an eternal hole with temporary stuff.

Ecclesiastes also teaches balance for a believer. It tells you to fear God, keep His commandments, and enjoy the simple gifts He gives without worshiping them. It warns you against extremes: reckless living on one side, bitter cynicism on the other. It teaches you that time is real, death is certain, and judgment is coming, so don’t waste your life on what won’t survive the grave. Wisdom isn’t being clever, it’s being sober.

So if you want a book that will straighten your soul out, read Ecclesiastes. It will humble your pride, calm your panic, and expose your idols. It will remind you that life is short, God is holy, and eternity is long. And the whole conclusion is simple: when God is missing, everything is meaningless; when God is first, everything else finds its proper place.
