✨Some personal news: after an awesome three year ride @databricks, the time has come to say farewell. Before looking forward, I wanted to look back and share a few personal lessons learned from the company’s journey from 1,600 to 6,500+ employees. I’m grateful to have played a small part in the company’s breakout growth from $400M to $1.5B+ ARR, and it’s been a career highlight to build up several product teams — including serverless, security, growth, identity, admin, observability, money and data serving — from zero to one. It has been – and continues to be — a special time in a generational company’s growth. And if you’re a founder that is on this side of $1B in revenues – I’d love to hear from you 🙂(I’ll be selectively investing in or advising a handful of awesome founders). ✨ https://t.co/CPVwJmNCF0 #ai #productmanagement #data #startups #vc
Yes, exactly. I’m pretty sure it would be good at logging into tennis court or campground reservation sites (but a matter of time until reservation sites of all kinds ban agents). My first attempt it failed captcha and turned me off trying again. But those should just be out of the box skills.
I just RSVP’d for HS open house (I think). But Muse didn’t screenshot and there was no email confirmation of any kind.
Shopping use cases are useful but just better search (since I don’t care to have it handle transactions)- Google just needs to do better long tail price discovery. Transactions are already fun with apple pay. Why do I want an agent to help me press a button.
So far, I’ve found Instinct’s text UI very appealing. But I’m just doing general chatgpt style research via text.
There’s no doubt there are “skill issues”. But niche consumer products requiring skill have limited value.
I turned off email access so that does limit things.
such a great sport for juniors. both my kids compete.
re: AI for tennis. one opportunity I see first hand: proven developmental coaches are very hard to come by (ie have developed national level players from ages 8-15) especially in metro areas like sf.
with better tools, great coaches can scale themselves to more students (eg Brad Stine is a great junior coach in norcal but now just coaches tommy paul).
not to mention rec players like me who could benefit from any halfway decent coach
I think this is true in many sports but for sure in tennis
@JehanGodrej@BrainsAndTennis This is so true. This summer I also accidentally did a “training block” (was away and not playing tennis but daily gym) and I think fitness / movement is huge.
Step1: actually practice and go to the gym
Step2: hit to their backhand
Right now I just play matches
:)
@BrainsAndTennis The rating is mostly off of flex league matches and also some USTA singles matches
UTR flex league is pretty great if you’re getting back into competitive tennis!
I grew up in Tokyo and a lot of independence is possible there, but even so, more like 10+.
I have a 10 year old now and he’s more independent than his peers, but not wandering the city. Even if both kids were walking a few blocks to school at 8.
There are very real dangers — if CPS gets engaged you are now a government bureaucrat away from losing your kids altogether. That’s not a made up risk.
My American friend in Tokyo asked how far I drive to see my parents.
"Two hours," I said.
"Oh nice. So they live close."
Close??
In Japan, two hours is a trip.
We stop at a rest area. We buy souvenirs. We text the family "we made it."
Tokyo to Osaka is about 6 hours by car.
Japanese people talk about that drive like it was the Oregon Trail.
Then he casually mentioned he once drove 14 hours. For a wedding. And drove back the next day.
So I need to hear this from more of you.
What's the longest drive you've ever done in one go?
From where to where? 🚗
(Texans: "Texas to Texas" counts.)
Product managers in the AI era.
“so you tell the agents what to build?”
“well no - I have agents that tell other agents what to build”
“oh so you must have to check the agents’ work?”
“not exactly - I have other agents responsible for that”
“what exactly do you do around here?”
“I have prompting skills dammit!!!”
