I watched a guy backtest 2,000 trades over 5 months and build a system with a 78% win rate that looked absolutely perfect on paper

bought a $100k prop firm challenge. full confidence. "I know my edge." showed everyone the spreadsheet. 2,000 trades. 78% accuracy. 2.8R average winner

blew the account in 8 days

and the reason it happened will change how you think about preparation forever

here's the day-by-day breakdown:

day 1: took his first setup. clean entry. everything matched his criteria perfectly. textbook trade from his backtested system. got stopped out. normal loss. 1R gone

except it wasn't normal. for the first time in his 5 months of "trading," he felt the loss PHYSICALLY. his chest tightened. his jaw clenched. in backtesting, a loss was a number in a
spreadsheet cell. he'd click "loss" and move to the next candle. zero emotion. zero physiological response

live, that same loss was $1,000 disappearing from an account with his name on it. his body registered it as a threat

day 2: took another setup. got stopped out again. frustration hit in a way that reviewing historical candles never produced. he moved his stop on the third trade "just to give it a little
more room." in 2,000 backtested trades he never once moved a stop. because there was nothing at stake. zero emotional incentive to deviate from the rules

day 3: won a trade. but closed it at 1R instead of the 2.8R his backtest targeted. the unrealized profit was sitting there at +$1,000 and his brain couldn't handle the uncertainty of
whether it would continue. "let me just take it while it's green." in backtesting he could see the full candle. he already knew the outcome. holding to 2.8R was effortless because there was no uncertainty. live, the future was invisible and the fear of losing the unrealized gain was overwhelming

day 4: started hunting. took a trade that "almost" matched his criteria. 6 out of 7 checkboxes were met. close enough right? wrong. this setup doesn't exist in his backtesting data because during backtesting he was selective and objective. he could see 100 candles at once and cherry-pick the perfect entries. live, with frustration building and no retrospective advantage, his brain manufactured reasons to enter trades that didn't qualify

day 5: two more losses. took a revenge trade with 3x his normal position size. "I KNOW this system works. I have 2,000 trades proving it." except those 2,000 trades were taken by a calm emotionless version of him scrolling through historical charts. THIS version of him, the live version, was a completely different operator. scared. frustrated. desperate. making decisions from his survival brain instead of his analytical brain

day 6-8: full spiral. progressively larger positions, progressively worse entry quality, zero adherence to the system that backtested at 78%. every trade was an emotional reaction to
the previous loss. by day 8 the account was gone

his backtest win rate: 78% his live win rate over 8 days: 41% his live average winner: 1.1R (versus 2.8R backtested) his live average loser: 1.6R (versus 1R backtested)

same strategy. same chart. same setups on paper

completely different human operating the system

Dear Parents,

I want to share one parenting secret with you. The one you won’t find in your regular blogs. And trust me, regardless of your faith, you will find this tip beneficial.

I want to explain why some kids become completely stubborn the more you punish them. I am doing this because I got some messages yesterday from people who have kids in the diaspora and how their kids have become stone-hearted to their parents’ warnings. It is indeed painful.

Remember that I mentioned the monumental book of Imam Al-Ghazali, Ihya’ Ulum al-Din. We have more things to learn from it.

In this book, he talked about a fragile part of a child's mind called the “Veil of Shame.” Note: Every child has this because they are born upon Fitrah (purity of the soul).

When a child does something bad for the first time, they usually try to hide it. They are afraid of being caught because they still value their dignity in your eyes.

The scholars explained that if a parent exposes the child, screams, yells at them, and punishes every mistake, you are tearing down their veil of shame.

Once a child realizes you already see them as a bad person, the humiliation has happened. They stop caring. You have destroyed their internal brakes. When they have no dignity left to protect, they will start doing those bad things openly and boldly.

How do you notice this in your child?

You can tell this is happening in your child when they stop trying to hide their mistakes and start becoming brazen or "strong-headed" when caught. This is a sign that the veil is thinning.

To fix this, you need to use a concept called Taghaful. It translates to intentional ignorance or pretending you did not see a fault.

Our Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us this. He did this with a young companion called Usama bin Zaid. But I see that our parents, due to their high expectations, are often too impatient to look away.

If you catch your child doing a hidden wrong, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is pretend you did not see it. Do not confront them and strip them of their respect.

Instead, bring up the topic later in a general conversation. Tell a story about why that action is destructive, without looking at them or accusing them. Let their own conscience do the punishing. Let them repent and fix it in secret.

A parent who hunts down every small mistake will end up raising a child who has no shame left to lose.

Dear Zuha,

I know you are inquisitive about how our religious days fit into the modern world. It is a brilliant question. I will be breaking this down for you so you can clearly see that Islam is not a copycat. It is a complete system with its own deep, independent roots.

Firstly, you asked: if the Gregorian calendar is not real, why do Muslims pray on Friday, and is there a different Friday in the Islamic calendar?

To help you and others understand, we have to go back to history.

Pope Gregory was the one who introduced the Gregorian calendar, and he introduced it in 1582. However, when you look at Islamic history, you will see that Muslims had been observing Jumu'ah for nearly a thousand years before that Pope was even born. If you open classical books of Islamic history such as the Seerah of Ibn Hisham or The Sealed Nectar, the physical proof is right there.

These books documented the very first Jumu'ah prayer held by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in 622 CE. It took place in the valley of Ranuna during his migration from Mecca to Medina. In that same era, Allah revealed an entire chapter in the Quran called Surah Al-Jumu'ah, where He commanded the believers to leave their worldly trades and gather. This proves Yawm al-Jumu'ah was a lived reality in the 7th century, over 900 years before the Gregorian calendar existed in Rome.

Now, you might wonder how this connects to the Friday we know today. Frankly, the seven day weekly loop is an entirely different system from how we count solar or lunar months. It is an ancient, unbroken mathematical cycle. You do not even have to take my word for it. Non Muslim historians and sociologists agree on this.

For instance, Eviatar Zerubavel in his book The Seven Day Circle confirmed that this weekly cycle has remained completely unbroken for thousands of years across different empires. The day the Western world decided to call Friday aligns seamlessly with the sixth day of that ancient cycle.

In Arabic, the days are just numbered. Sunday is Day One. Monday is Day Two. The sixth day is Yawm al-Jumu'ah, the Day of Gathering. This means we do not pray on this day to honor a Roman calendar. That is, it was just a coincidental relationship. We pray on it because Allah established it on a divine timeline.

Secondly, you asked: why is Friday night considered so blessed, and what are you missing here?

To understand this, we have to look at the foundations of human existence. Friday goes more than just the end of the work week. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that Friday is the day Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was created, the day he entered Paradise, the day he was sent to earth, and the day the world will end.

This is why the Prophet had a very profound routine. Every Friday during the early morning Fajr prayer, he would recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Al-Insan. He did this deliberately. These two chapters detail the creation of the universe, the biological creation of man, and the intense realities of the Day of Judgment. Praying these chapters every Friday morning is a divine reset. It reminds you of your origin and your final destination, both of which are tied to this specific day.

Because Friday carries the heavy weight of the end of times, reciting Surah Al-Kahf is your spiritual shield. The Surah contains stories about the ultimate trials of wealth, power, and faith. Reading it provides a divine light that protects your heart from the materialistic noise of the world and the deception of the Dajjal until the next Jumu'ah.

So by this fact, you are not missing anything. You just need to see that we are not following a Gregorian Friday. We are following a divine timeline. Don’t fret.
