You only fight when the fight is fair.
If it ain’t fair - you fuck off from there. Sometimes- it’s just about survival.
People ask - why do people tolerate toxicity in residency. They can complain, resign etc etc.
Actually they can’t .
It’s an extraordinarily unfair fight.
When you join residency - in many if not all states - you can’t resign without paying a huge bond (upto 1 crore)!
You’re also banned from counseling for 3 years.
You can’t complain - whom will you? - to HOD?
You think that same HOD doesn’t know about what’s happening in the department.
The faculty will ensure you fail in MD exit if you talk/rebel.
Or will not sign your thesis.
Half the suicides - the trigger is almost always pressure over a random thesis(which should be banned imo in India)
It’s worse in surgical branches- they won’t give you a chances/any cutting.
It’s an unfair fight.
And people - just - they just survive.
It’s 1 year. Maximum 2. They keep the head down - tolerate the humiliation and just leave after taking the damn degree.
I’ll again let people know that many tests which you feel are unnecessary- are - Yes- unnecessary - but done due to medicolegal reality - not due to doctor wanting more money.
I’m sorry - but bringing Healthcare under Consumer act has definitely inflated costs.
You went with headache and got MRI Brain done.
It’s cause of the 0.0001% chance it’s a stroke - you won’t think twice before suing the doc who didn’t get the MRI done.
Congrats- now every headache gets a MRI.
We used to manage childhood leukemia on daycare basis in AIIMS.
Transfusions were given with a strict 20k platelet cutoff. (for FN)
I would be sued into oblivion if I tried that in private and a child with leukemia with 24k platelet gets a bleed.
All the borderline cases get more treatment - not less in private - this isn’t becuase doctor doesn’t know conservative management- it’s because you will sue the doctor for not being aggressive enough incase something goes wrong.

An MBBS doctor paid ₹20–35k/month.
Let that sink in.
In 2026 India, a doctor who saves lives earns LESS than a government peon.
10+ years of education. Night duties. Abuse. Legal risk. Burnout.
And this is the “respect” for doctors?
No wonder doctors are depressed.
This system is broken. Period.

What scam has been so normalized? The guilt-tripping of successful doctors.
I know a Rheumatologist in my city.
• Full Private Practice (No Govt post/salary)
• 15 years of education + 10 years of grind.
• Sees 100 patients/day (Purely based on patient satisfaction).
He once posted that his annual income was ₹1.5 Cr.
The result? He was bashed, called a "thief," and bullied until he deleted his account.
Compare this to a 22-year-old IIT graduate bagging a ₹1.5 Cr package.
Society’s reaction: "Inspiration," "Pride of India," "Deserves it."
If a techie earns it, it’s 'Success.'
If a doctor earns it, it’s 'Robbery.'
Making a doctor feel guilty for being compensated for their expertise is the biggest scam in Indian society.
Obviously this was needed. High time medical doctors stop prescribing herbal garbage. But what about all those Ayurveda graduates who prescribe modern medicines right, left and center or add modern medicines to their herbal mumbo-jumbo to make it work?
And don't give me that lame argument that they "learn modern medicine textbooks" during Bachelors degree in Ayurveda course. Just because someone travelled by plane multiple times doesn't make them a fighter pilot.
@katyxkohli17 Not every man cheats, just like not every woman stays loyal. Stop dragging 3.5 billion people because one rumor excited you. Smriti’s family is in pain, show some basic decency instead of this ‘saare mard ek jaise’ nonsense.
A remarkable life comes to an end, but her legacy will keep giving shade for generations.
Padma Shri Saalumarada Thimmakka passes away at 114.
Heartfelt condolences.
May her soul rest in peace. 🙏🌿
All you need to do is to show the ECG and other reports based on which the pacemaker was advised and also mention the drug interactions of acne meds causing it. Takes less than 5 minutes. Bcos you're casting serious aspersions on the Cardiology fraternity. I agree that there can be misjudgments and premature conclusions but the scenario you've described is quite far fetched. And the basic format in medicine when talking about cases is to put out investigation reports and mention details which anyone can see and decide for themselves.
Hope when you talk about such serious stuff, you take care of these basic tenets a little more seriously.
Your intention of trying to fix things seems noble. But try harder.
We need a law in India to prevent people from giving wrong medical advice, which can harm people. Be it about vaccines or diet, or disease management. Expressing concern or viewpoint is different from using social media to mislead people. #MedTwitter
Dear Indians, your life has ZERO value.
FSSAI banned ORSL because it contains high sugar and does not comply with the WHO formula, as it is dangerous for health.
Then the ORSL company said, “Please, sir, we have ₹180 crore worth of stock. Please let us sell it.”
The court said, Okay, sell it.
So, this ₹180 crore stock of a big billionaire company has more value than the health of 140 crore Indians.
