I have been practicing criminal law for almost 20yrs and I still feel nauseous on the days the verdict comes down. Today was no exception but ... NOT GUILTY OF TWO COUNTS OF MURDER!!!!! All the credit to my brilliant colleague Mayleah Quenneville! #lawtwitter
Got my co-author courtesy copy of “Search and Seizure yesterday. @EmondPublishing gave me an extra copy. I’d like to give that copy away to a law student, articling student/law clerk, or new call... (1/3)
I'll be glad to see the back of 2020. As of next week, I'll have been training in martial arts for thirty years. There is a singular lesson across all of the disciplines. Everyone gets knocked down, what matters is that you get back up. #HappyNewYear2021
As a criminal defence lawyer, knowing your efforts at a bail hearing contributed to someone spending the night at home instead of in a jail cell is such a rewarding feeling. This profession has its ups and downs, but these moments make it worth it.
An example of the far-reaching and life-ruining devastation caused by a failed justice system. We must continue to fight against wrongful convictions - always. As a defence lawyer, there are few greater nightmares than a case like this. @InnocenceCanada

How could it take this long for the footage to be released? How could the Alameda Sheriff’s dept have recommended charging Masai if they had this? How could the sherriff’s deputy have pursued a lawsuit against Masai knowing this was out there? Unbelievable. #JusticeForMasai
PPSC has come up with new guidelines for prosecuting drug offences that involve possession, but not trafficking. It's a step in the right direction, with a focus on NOT prosecuting except as a last resort. Hopefully decriminalization isn't too far away. https://t.co/UjTgKV5P58
Just wrapped up my first substantial hearing via audio. Was extremely smooth but still strange to complete a matter without seeing the Judge/Crown #OCJ
It's 150 days since Breonna Taylor was murdered. Too often Black women who die from police violence are forgotten. Stay loud, demand justice—and SAY HER NAME. This tee is made in partnership with the Breonna Taylor Foundation to whom all profits are given. https://t.co/xhEbB7HIfa
