Several improvised explosive devices were found at a substation near a coal-fired power plant in Germany on Tuesday and several power lines were damaged, police and a grid operator said.
The apparent aim was to trigger a large-scale power outage in the area around the nearby coal-fired power plant. - Euronews
How much do you want to bet that this was russian attack, and that it will be called "hybrid" and dismissed?
A B-52 did what?!
In 1990, during a joint exercise in the Persian Gulf, a B-52 called up USS Ranger and asked for a flyby. The carrier said yes, then reported no visual when the bomber called five miles out. The B-52 crew answered, “Look down.”
The BUFF came in below the flight deck, so low the jet wash kicked spray off the water. Cold War low-level training made that pass possible. Sailors on Ranger got one of the rarest views in naval aviation: an eight-engine bomber sliding past a carrier like it belonged there.
A cleric in Iran just announced that if a woman gets to choose her own clothes, then a man gets the right to rape her.
Do not scroll past that. Read it twice.
That is not a slip of the tongue. That is not a fringe opinion from the back of a mosque. That is Kazem Rohbakhsh an official worldview of the Islamic Republic of Iran, finally spoken without the mask.
For 45 years this regime has told women they are the problem. Cover yourself, or you "tempt" men. Dress modestly, or you "deserve" what comes next. And now the punchline, straight from the cleric's mouth: If you dare to be free, then we are free to sexually assault you.
Let me be clear about something.
That is the whole ideology of the Islamic Republic of Iran in one sentence. A regime so terrified of women that it believes your only choice is a headscarf or a predator.
So here is my answer to the mullah, in simple words:
Women don’t need to cover themselves to control men’s behavior. Men need to control themselves.
A woman's body is not a bargaining chip. Our freedom is not a crime. And your "right to rape" is not a right. It is a confession. A confession that your ideology is too weak to win a single woman's heart, so you must crush her body instead.
Doris Miller had no gunnery training. He was a mess attendant — that’s all the Navy let Black sailors be in 1941. When the bombs hit Pearl Harbor, he ran toward the guns anyway, dragged wounded men to safety, and fought back until he ran out of ammo.
He was the first Black American ever awarded the Navy Cross.
Donald Trump got four draft deferments and a “bone spurs” diagnosis nobody can find a doctor’s name attributed to. He has never worn the uniform, never taken fire, never done a single thing that required courage. Ever.
The Navy named a future carrier after Miller in 2020 — first ever named for an enlisted sailor, first for a Black American. Now they’re reportedly considering stripping his name off it to put Trump’s on instead.
A coward’s name, on a hero’s ship. That should make everyone sick.
🇺🇦 SHE IS ONLY 21 YEARS OLD. AND RUSSIA HAS STOLEN THREE YEARS OF HER YOUNG LIFE.
Exactly three years ago, on August 20, 2023, Russian security forces stormed the home of Yana Suvorova in occupied Melitopol and took her away. She was just 18 years old.
Her “crime”? Yana refused to accept the Russian occupation of her hometown. She helped run the Telegram community “Melitopol Is Ukraine,” where Ukrainians could share information about life under occupation and where one simple truth continued to be spoken: MELITOPOL IS UKRAINE. 🇺🇦
For that, Russia turned an 18-year-old Ukrainian girl into a supposed “spy” and “terrorist.” Russian authorities accused her of collecting information about Russian forces that allegedly contributed to strikes against FSB and Rosgvardia facilities.
After her detention, pro-Ukrainian Telegram resources in Melitopol were hacked and taken over. Yana disappeared into Russia’s prison system.
On October 23, 2025, a Russian military court sentenced her to FOURTEEN YEARS in a penal colony on charges including “espionage,” involvement in a “terrorist community,” and “terrorism.”
FOURTEEN YEARS. For a young Ukrainian woman seized at 18 years old in her own occupied city.
Today Yana is being held in Detention Center No. 2 in Taganrog. She is now 21.
Think about that. At an age when young people should be studying, falling in love, traveling, building careers and dreaming about their futures, Yana has spent THREE YEARS behind Russian bars.
Three birthdays stolen. Three years stolen. Three years of youth that Russia can never give back.
Today, exactly three years after she was taken from her home, we must make sure her name is not forgotten.
HER NAME IS YANA SUVOROVA.
Say her name. Share her photograph. Tell her story. Remind the world that behind the statistics about Ukrainians held by Russia are REAL HUMAN BEINGS — with parents, friends, dreams and lives waiting for them at home.
Yana, hold on. You have NOT been forgotten. Ukraine remembers you. Ukraine is waiting for you. Ukraine is fighting for you. 🇺🇦
BRING YANA HOME. BRING THEM ALL HOME.
THIS is exactly what should happen when a department violates the Constitution, repeatedly.
The Trinidad, TX Police Dept. has been informed that the county district attorney will no longer accept ANY cases for prosecution solely investigated or filed by their department after arresting two people for expressing their 1st amendment right.
For background, there have been problems with the town's water, including very high chemical readings. A citizen journalist posted to her Facebook that she had received reports that the water problems had resulted in hospitalizations. The former police chief arrested her on a felony charge saying that her post "creates fear, panic, or unnecessary emergency response within a community." A grand jury subsequently declined to indict her on the charge. She has now field a federal lawsuit against the city and officials.
Following news of her arrest, another citizen journalist went to Trinidad to protest, and was subsequently arrested after expressing vulgarity towards the police. The local judge subsequently dismissed the charge. The City Council subsequently fired the judge and the city administrator which was followed by a slew of resignations among city employees.
The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) has also launched an investigation into the department following what the interim police chief acknowledged were 15 years of bad police practices.
Trinidad is a town of less than 1,000 people about an hour outside of Dallas.
URGENT: Sepehr Amirzadeh, a young medical student in Iran, has reportedly been sentenced to death after treating wounded protesters.
I am calling on every doctor in Iran and around the world: please help save your fellow future doctor.
His name is Sepehr Amirzadeh. He is a medical student. He reportedly faces execution in Iran.
His “crime”? He treated wounded protesters during January uprising. He tried to save lives.
When people were bleeding, Sepehr did not ask about their politics. He did what medicine demands: he helped the wounded.
For that act of humanity, security forces raided his home, arrested him and now he may be sent to the gallows.
Doctors of the world, please do not let him face the executioner alone. Be his voice. Save Sepehr.

BREAKING: New reporting reveals that Trump voted by mail AGAIN ahead of tomorrow’s election in Florida. This comes as Trump is trying to implement a sweeping measure to restrict vote by mail because of “fraud.”
If it’s safe for Trump it’s safe for you.
I spent 16 years in the British Army, leaving the Parachute Regiment as a Major. I served three tours in Afghanistan, one attached to US Army Special Forces, as well as tours in Bosnia, Northern Ireland and the Middle East. I later taught military theory and leadership at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Academically, I have an LLB in Law & Politics, an MA with Distinction in War Studies & Military History and an MSc with Distinction in Psychology. I also hold postgraduate qualifications in Leadership & Strategic Management and Higher Education, and I am now completing a PhD in War Studies examining what Ukraine and the post-7 October wars can tell us about the future of warfare.
Since leaving the Army, I have spent a great deal of time going to the wars I write about. I visited Gaza twice in 2024, went inside captured Hezbollah tunnels in Lebanon, visited the Ukrainian front lines, and in 2025 became the first neutral researcher invited to observe the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution sites. My research has produced substantial reports on casualty statistics, human shields, information warfare, humanitarian operations and the tactical lessons emerging from Gaza. You can find them at @HJS_Org
I make no apology for advertising to you that this is an unusually strong background for analysing contemporary conflict. There are not many conflict analysts who combine command experience in war, formal study of war, law and psychology, experience teaching future Army officers, think-tank research and repeated fieldwork inside the conflicts they analyse.
Those different disciplines also catch different mistakes. Military experience makes it harder to mistake a map arrow for a feasible operation. War Studies forces tactical events back into their political and strategic context. Psychology matters when propaganda, perception and behavioural manipulation have become part of the battlefield. Law matters when almost every contemporary campaign is simultaneously fought through international institutions, courts and competing claims about legitimacy. Fieldwork is the final check because people who actually fight wars have a habit of complicating theories developed by chairborne researchers from several thousand miles away.
That is what I try to bring to my Substack. I am less interested in telling readers who “won” yesterday than in working out what happened, why it happened, what the participants were trying to achieve, whether they possessed the means to achieve it, and what the consequences are likely to be. Tactical success, military effectiveness and strategic success are not synonyms. Much bad analysis begins by treating them as though they are.
I will get things wrong. Anyone analysing wars in real time will. The promise I can reasonably make is that I will go to the evidence, go to the people involved where I can, change my assessment when the evidence changes, and tell you what I think rather than what my supposed political tribe would prefer me to think.
There is an enormous quantity of geopolitical commentary available for free. I think the combination behind mine is genuinely unusual.
If that is the sort of conflict analysis you want to read, please check out: https://t.co/YJdNYaoObl
This total solar eclipse appeared not only poetically beautiful but scientifically interesting. Usually the solar corona appears white, and to some observers the corona of last week's total solar eclipse did appear this pearly color. But this time, totality observers in Spain saw a corona that appeared unusually golden. For one reason, from Spain, the totality occurred when the setting Sun was near the horizon. That low, sunlight travels through a large amount of air which scatters out blue light. An unusual amount of smoke in the air from nearby forest fires acted as a second filter, further scattering the remaining blue tones and deepening the already gold-dominated light. The HDR-processed, multiple-exposure featured image was captured from Benavente, Spain last week. One thing that did not appear golden was a hydrogen-glowing prominence that hovered over the Sun's left edge -- its original bright pink color survived.

During the Iranian Revolution, leftist students, communists, and Muslims were all united in overthrowing the Shah.
The leftists celebrated when Khomeini returned in 1979. They thought they had defeated capitalism and imperialism. It didn’t last long.
Around 30,000 leftists who helped the Islamic regime consolidate power were soon executed. That’s where the term “useful idiot” comes from.
They served their purpose and were no longer needed. Muslims had always despised their progressive ideals and could not wait to get rid of them.
One of the women celebrating in the photo was killed, and the other fled the country for her life.
It’s bizarre that almost 50 years later, Western leftists are making the exact same mistake and allying with Muslims. They will have the same fate.
America won the Cold War by building strong alliances, championing democracy, anchoring the global financial system, and maintaining an open economy.
Those same advantages could help us compete with China and Russia today.
Trump is dismantling them.
