The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Governance, Justice and Civil Protection has approved the Chief of Defence Staff (Repeal) Bill. The meeting was attended by the Defence Secretary and the Commanders of the three Armed Forces.

The Bill seeks to repeal the 2009 Act, as coordination of the three Armed Forces is now handled by the Ministry of Defence amid ongoing restructuring. It is scheduled for Second Reading in Parliament on 9 September.
