The Centre recently participated in the #LeadersTalkAfrica webinar organised by @civicadvisory, contributing to the discussion on “Deconstructing Terrorist Propaganda.” A key insight was that terrorists narratives thrive on emotional vulnerability & identity gaps. Countering them requires proactive, human-centered strategies as it’s not just messaging, but a contest over meaning & belonging. The Centre, in collaboration with the Government of Sweden, today kicked off a three-day workshop aimed at strengthening the role of women in shaping narratives that promote peace and counter violent extremism
On behalf of Executive Secretary H.E. @DrWorkneh, Centre Director Dr Simon Nyambura welcomed participants, underscoring women’s unique potential as powerful agents of change in #PCVE efforts.
He encouraged participants to move beyond the fixation on minor differences that divide the region, and instead recognise our shared humanity and common challenges.

The Regional Strategic Communication Workshop in PCVE for Youth and Civil Society Representatives concluded with the issuance of certificates of participation. Held from 10–12 November 2025, in Hawassa, Ethiopia, the workshop’s key achievement was the development of country-specific counter and alternative narratives aimed at discrediting violent extremist ideologies. #Youth4PCVE #CSOs4PCVE

In his remarks, he emphasized that while borders define nations, violent extremism knows none- underscoring the need to empower and include youth at the heart of strategic communication efforts, turning them from targets of extremist narratives into partners for peace and resilience across the region. #Youth4PCVE #CSOs4PCVE
