EPSRC Programme Grant in Nanoscale Advanced Materials Engineering @OfficialUoM @UniversityLeeds @Imperialcollege. We make materials for #quantum technologies.
Curious about what we do? We have produced this short film to explain our work, how we're developing new advanced materials, and our impact across the UK! @EPSRC@imperialcollege@OfficialUoM@UniversityLeeds
Great so see work by Tim Moorsom, part of the @NameProgramme, publishing his work in Communication Materials. The paper shows the significant impact even weakly absorbed molecular films can have on TI surfaces - https://t.co/2aaERrjoGi
Great to see this paper has been included in the Springer Collection - Harnessing quantum: progress towards real world applications of quantum technologies

Released earlier in the year to fanfare, the purest silicon could potentially create the spin-free canvas for the quantum computers of the future.
10 years of success from the @GreatSciShare leads to thousands of teachers and young people asking, investigating and sharing scientific questions. We’re proud to support this impactful campaign! #scienceeducation#GSSfS2025
Imperial Lates: an evening of sensory stimulating activities to explore science. Throw in a sense-sational quiz, storytelling from the Story Collider, a DJ set from the Rhythm Studio and you have yourself a great evening of sensory science! https://t.co/Ybzx0YRwD4
📣 New publication!
We've published a Future Directions report on #materials for #quantum technologies, identifying the challenges for the development of materials for #QuantumComputing, and quantum sensing and imaging 💡

We love seeing our demos out and about! The AFM boxes are at @newscilive now, getting more young people hands-on with materials. Great idea with the rubbings- looks really effective 🖍️🖍️🖍️
The CDT-ACM is @newscilive today for schools day! We have lots of activities demonstrating materials characterisation, including a VR crystallography explorer, AFM crayon rubbings🖍️🎨 and an AFM mystery box game (supported by our friends at @NameProgramme) 😀😀
As always great to see members of the NAME PG engaging with the Royce A2D, helping spread the word on the amazing systems we are utilising and developing and how to gain access to them.

Welcome to our new-look work packages! We have refocused for the next stage of the Programme Grant and can't wait to make further advances in these areas.
And now we start looking forward! Our Q13 meeting was a hybrid affair with interesting updates from all institutions as well as some delicious cakes! Big push on getting our data out there now 👀
And if you missed it you can still experience our "Down the Column" video or print off our material top trumps at home by visiting https://t.co/ma6JHMiW6s
And who could forget the Royal Society #summerscience this year! We presented Engineering Atom by Atom. See our little video to catch up on what went on 📽️

Another highlight of the year was our participation in the organization of ICANS30. With 150+ people attending and 90+ talks, there were some interesting discussions. We are so thankful to our NAME volunteers for helping before, during, and after the event to make it a success.

As we enter Y4 of the grant we are looking back, this week, over the last year at some of the great things we have achieved together. With the science being at the core of what we do, here are a couple of highlights that have been published 📰👇

We had such a great time at ICANS30 at the University of Manchester last week that we forgot to post about it!
Dr Philippa Shepley, Royce Deposition System Experimental Officer, was invited to give a talk on the fantastic Thin-Films she can produce on her equipment.
Another great outreach weekend supporting @PSI_UoM at the @royalsociety summer tour at @jodrellbank - talking about all things light and waves from single photon emitters to how lithography works, we had a great time discussing our passion for science!
And before you know it, we say goodbye to ICANS30 until the next conference to bring us and our ideas
together. Its been great couple of days with so many amazing talks and we look forward to the future events.
