Even 40km away from the nearest town, we could find plenty of rubbish wasting away on the beach at Pelican Point. Plastic bottles, ice cream boxes, plastic strapping, beer cans, wine bottles - none of this belongs here! The bottom of the ocean looks exactly the same.
Field Update: The rescuers from OCN have one more night of wild camping ahead, tomorrow they will look for entangled seals at Cape Cross and then return to Walvis Bay. Naude will do a live Q&A on Youtube soon to talk about this excursion and the seal situation along the coast.
World Water Day was on March 22. Namibia is experiencing a water crisis due to severe droughts. The 2018/19 rainy season only received 50% of average seasonal rainfall. Recent funding seeks to increase national water access to 100% by 2030.
