The older I get, the more I realize, I don’t want a busy life. I want a deep life. Slow mornings. Focused work. Calm people. Meaningful progress. Good books. A quiet mind at night. Nothing flashy. Nothing trendy. Just a life that feels good to live. Depth over noise. That'll do.
As an adult I’m learning that a lot of other adults do not have the capacity for tough conversations, repair and emotional intelligence and I don’t have to put up with it if I don’t want too. I can very much leave someone where they are at.
What a privilege it is to be able to walk.
What a privilege it is to be able to work out.
What a privilege it is to be able to eat.
What a privilege it is to grow.
Dear Lord, I'm grateful.
real intimacy is when someone looks at your chaos, your edges, your heat… and doesn’t flinch. they lean in, smirk a little, and say “I can handle you”… then prove it by staying. ❤️🔥
My therapist told me:
“When a person grows up feeling unseen, they learn to love by over-giving. They pour into everyone else, hoping that, one day, someone will finally pour back into them. So they become the care taker. The fixer. The one who shows up, even when no one shows up for them.”
And the hardest part? Deep down, they're not trying to be strong. They're just waiting for someone to do for them what they've spent their whole life doing for everyone else.
I hope I marry a man who's Thoughtful. I don't want flowers on valentine's day because that's what you're "supposed to do". I want flowers on a random Tuesday bcz you thought of me on your way home
