@ScuderiaFerrari@Carlossainz55 “Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us ‘take a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.’ Thirty years later, Sebastian told us ‘I had to start my car like a computer, it’s very complicated…”
@OCDcheckin @Sam198247235291 Exactly! Would you feel comfortable with sharing your experiences in how to differentiate when it’s better to counter your instincts rather than to listen to them? First thing that comes to mind for me, is trying to think about your values and trying to act accordingly to those?
@enoughofthis4 @Sam198247235291 I absolutely agree! If it would be easy to differentiate, we wouldn’t be “listening” to the OCD, but it all feels so real!
In OCD, obsessions do not align with reality and compulsions do not help anyone in any way, ever. But dang it, it does feel frighteningly real and it’s hard
@Sam198247235291 It’s become second nature to compensate by not always listening to my instincts.
Which raises the question how one should balance this with sensing their own realistic boundaries in a timely way, as to not overdo themselves
Perhaps a topic of conversation for next week?
@Sam198247235291 Very very relatable! My danger driven brain sees potential threat in pretty much every situation; being a personification of anxiety with an unrealistic sense of responsibility, probably makes me susceptible for OCD, I think many could relate to that
@Sam198247235291 Very glad to hear you’ve already written something you’re happy about, that must feel good! And more to come when it comes, I’m sure of it!
I’m alright, have been better but have definitely been worse too! Still coming down from my OCD relapse scare, happy things aren’t bad yet!
@Sam198247235291 Hi Sam, that sucks! But then again, OCD sucks and that’s nothing new for either one of us, unfortunately… may I ask whether you do get around to writing at all, despite the numbers these days?
@fuqekgs Hey! I’ve been liking your tweets about this for a few days but I wanted to explicitly let you know this idea is absolutely amazing! I think the sections on mental health, burnout and clinical rotations are especially relatable for me. I’ll DM you soon but I already love this!!
@MariahRoseFaith And if it is a sad song I WILL keep listening until I have to rehydrate to keep crying, ain’t nobody gonna stop me, that’s my version of high end selfcare
@beckysowsseeds @Sam198247235291 Though we didn’t have a conversation and we didn’t agree on a compromise; they (naturally) got frustrated, I couldn’t stop… just looked for ways to keep doing compulsions
I’m sorry for the past, I hope your relationship with mom and stepmom is strong and you’re better than ever!
@beckysowsseeds @Sam198247235291 Crap relatable… I wasn’t a teen anymore, I was diagnosed and my compulsions didn’t include door checking either… but staying awake well until everyone else was asleep, doing everything in the dark as to bother them as little as possible… that I know a thing or two about :(
@tveitidk Omg especially those parts where people die!! And those left behind have to weigh their sacrifice for their shared cause against their grief!! It’s like so happy and wholesome, happy tears all over, every time!🥰🥰
