Tonight I returned to a Council I once served as Deputy Leader — this time as a resident, presenting a deputation signed by 42 others to protect single-sex violence against women and girls provision. Haringey is now under a Green administration, led by Mark Blake. Afterwards, Council security, concerned for our safety, escorted me and two other women out through a back entrance and towards the bus stop to protect us from protesters outside screaming some claptrap about “TERFs” and “the state”.
In 1986, aged 10, I came to Haringey with my mum and sister, fleeing domestic violence. We were placed in hotels — the first notably in Holborn and St Pancras — where women and girls stood guard at bathroom doors to protect each other’s dignity.
Apparently that 10-year-old girl grew up to become a stooge of the state for fighting to protect services for the women and girls who came after her.

We came to speak. They came to intimidate.

It didn’t work.

Those responsible should be thoroughly ashamed.

Jon Ossoff stood up in Atlanta this week and did what Democrats have failed to do for a decade: land a punch that actually connects.

He said the sailors on the USS Abraham Lincoln are fighting Trump’s war while the president himself sleeps through meetings, plays golf, and trades stocks.

He went further, calling Trump a draft-dodging, crook president who plunged the nation into a war he cannot end or win.

Not bad for a man who reportedly does not even carry social media apps on his own phone.

Meanwhile Trump apparently spends more time worrying about ballrooms and travel companions than actual governing, which, if you have seen him near a golf buggy, tracks entirely.
