ActionSA welcomes the Electoral Court’s judgement handed down today against the DA’s case which sought to disqualify ActionSA from supplementing its PR lists, based on unfounded allegations around “transparency” and the opportunistic reading of matters into law.

ActionSA welcomes this misguided case effectively being put out of its misery, and focuses its attention on turning out en masse the very voters the DA has sought to silence.

🚨 JOBURG, THE LAW MUST BE RESPECTED. NO ONE IS ABOVE IT!

When making my pledge, I made it clear: if you are in Johannesburg illegally, your days of evading the law are numbered.

I challenged the misinformation that local government has no role or powers in addressing illegal immigration. That narrative must end. Local government has a responsibility to work with relevant authorities to enforce the law.

Baagi ba Joburg, my commitment is clear: to put South Africans first, restore law and order, and deliver services to all residents, regardless of their proof of residence. Because you deserve better.

ActionSA will not stand by and allow Soweto to become the next target of plans to separate the poor from the rich, similar to what is being proposed in Cape Town.

Our vision for Soweto is clear: to unlock its potential, create jobs, attract investment and build a community where every resident is treated with dignity. Poverty must be confronted through development, and our people must never be made to feel as though they need to be hidden because they are poor.

ActionSA believes that Soweto deserves investment, not isolation; development, not division. Our townships must be transformed through meaningful economic opportunities and improved living conditions.

This campaign comes at a difficult time following the sudden and tragic passing of our Councilor Candidate, the late Cllr Busisiwe Male, whom we laid to rest on Sunday.

Despite this painful loss, we remain committed to engaging residents and encouraging them to make their voices heard at the polls.

These were the words of Gift Lamola, an independent candidate in a neighbouring ward and a community leader in Soweto who leads a committee advocating for a flat-rate electricity tariff for residents.

His remarks reflect what ordinary residents of Johannesburg know and remember about my time as Mayor. The work I did and the commitment that of getting things done has left a lasting impression on communities across the city.
