@elonmusk It was actually said by a French surgeon when a wealthy English lady wanted him to convert her to a man. He said it was impossible and she responded by saying she’d pay anything. His response was “money can’t buy a penis” but the French accent led to the misquote.
@stats_feed Loan is secured by a mortgage over a property usually. The word mortgage is derived from the Latin words for “death pledge”. Bank still gets their money back when the property is sold.
@JasonClareMP That modelling conveniently leaves out a few things. The funds going to hospitality businesses which will need more employees and supplies. All of which is more money flowing through the economy. Much more efficient than paying bureaucrats to tax and manage those funds.
@AlboMP So put more demand pressure on real estate and therefore drive prices higher. Why not work supply side harder to entered enough accommodation for all and help ease price rises?
