Got new shrimp for my Purevue 5.5 gallon cube! This is the process I go through whenever I get new fish or shrimp to drip acclimate them. Some people say drip acclimating is bad, but I’ve always had success doing it.

I got bored and decided to take apart this jar aquarium. I have a vase that’s a similar size and shape, so I might use the plants in there.

Most of my aquariums are low tech and filterless. I’m using a filter for this tank to make my life a lot easier 🤣

The plants in the front of this tank were growing way too fast, so I gave it a quick trim.

Filling my new nano cube aquarium! I used tap water and poured it through a plastic mesh screen to slow down and spread out the water so it wouldn’t ruin the plants and substrate. This Purevue 5.5 gallon cube kit and Aquapure water conditioner were provided for free by ZooMed

Adding plants to my nano cube aquarium. I’m using dwarf sag in the foreground, and a ton of different crypts on the sides. The centerpiece is java fern on a large piece of driftwood. That’s sitting on lava rocks with anubias nana petite.

Patience is really important to have when keeping aquariums. Sometimes it can take months to get your desired outcome. It’s going to take a lot longer for this tank to look how I want it!

Algae covered glass and struggling plants right after doing a massive trim. In about 2 weeks, you won’t even be able to tell it was this bad!

Trimming my 2 gallon planted aquarium bowl. The bottom of the stems had little to no leaves, so I decided to replant a lot of the stems. It should look a lot more fuller once everything starts growing back!

Water changes do so much for your nano aquariums. Some people do them, some people don’t but you’ll probably have more success if you do!

This tank is 2 months old. Here’s the setup and all of the maintenance I’ve done on it so far. Still need to do another trim and replant, then add a snail and some shrimp! What color shrimp would look good in here?

Flooding my new vase aquarium. I know it looks bad right now, but just trust the process. It’ll fill in and situate itself once the plants get established. 😂
